It has an awesome final dungeon

Like, close to ALttP levels of awesomeness. The final boss is actually challenging too, one of the most challenging final bosses in recent memory actually.

Nope, because I would take months and months and months and years to do it that way.  I'm trying to get as many extras as possible, but I'm not a completionist.

I MIGHT be talked into Minish Cap.

Lol... I was wondering - since, you know, there's the Nintendo Gallery in Wind Waker. ;)

Yesterday, I picked up the bomb bag today in Dodongo's Cavern.   Took awhile to remember how to get the Goron leader guy to give me the bracelet.  Talked to everyone twice over before I chatted up the guy RIGHT OUTSIDE again.  Dodongo's Cavern is easier than I remember.

I think that has to do with this being the 2nd or 3rd time playing the game. I think the real test will be the Water Temple. Possibly the Forest Temple.

Got through the belly of the whale.  Had a bit of a problem remembering how to open the final button door before the boss (use the box).  Just got through the door of time.  Man this game is great.

Water Temple sucks monkey balls. I'd say that the Shadow Temple ain't nothing special either.

Shadow Temple had good atmosphere, so did the well. First time i saw that miniboss under the village i was freaked out. That was probably the most disturbing looking character design Nintendo has ever done, it looked like something out of Resident Evil more than Zelda.

Slow going.  Just finished the Fire Temple (although I have some exploring to do in there yet).

It's a little harder to play through the console Zelda's quickly, because I can't just sit here and play video games all night or my wife will leave me. :)  It's easier to play handheld titles because I can do that while my wife and I are watching TV.

Anyways, I'm hoping to pick up the pace and get this game finished by the end of August.

Replaying?  Ocarina should take just 6 hours to beat.  I took care of the Forest Temple in ~45min so many moons ago.

I've only ever played it once, and that was in 1999.  It's basically a fresh playthrough.

Finally putting some serious hours into this, about halfway through the Shadow Temple.  I really had forgotten just how big this game is.  Also, how good it is.  I do think, however, that later 3D Zelda games had better dungeons.  I guess I'll have better context in a few months when I have Majora and Wind Waker behind me.

Finally finished Ocarina tonight.  Feels good to get that one finished.  Such a great game.  Not sure if I'm going to be finishing this blog series on the NWR staff blog or keeping it on my personal blog yet.  Hopefully I'll have a writeup somewhere in the next week or so.

Next up, I'm going to play either Oracle of Seasons or Ages, depending on which I should do first.  Then backtracking to Majora, then the other Oracle game.

Just to be different - Seasons.

Why skipping over MM for now?

All that time spent playing OoT.. he has to take the handheld zelda adventure while he drops a duece.

Yeah, I have a road trip coming up and I'm not the one driving.  I thought since OoT and MM are pretty similar, and OaS and OaA are pretty similar, I'd mix them up a bit so as not to play any of those games back to back.

I'm interested to see how you will rank MM to OOT.
