Radio Free Nintendo listener Dellainey sent James a "care package" of games. The FBI has been notified.

Way back in February, James unboxed, live on RFN, a package sent to him by frequent emailer Dellainey in Las Vegas. In it were copies of Pokémon Channel (GCN), Shadow the Hedgehog (GCN), and most horrifyingly Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U). Needing to test new capture equipment, James dugs into Sonic's latest reboot and tried to keep sane by discussing industry trends and a theoretical Sonic reclamation project. Come for the incessant chatter of Sonic and friends, stay for the hilarious drowning animation.

The game audio is too loud and I can't hear anything you're saying. Too bad, really. I would have loved to hear your extended thoughts on the game, and commentary on the franchise while you're in the thick of its current lowest point.

I do look forward to your future attempts at commentary, just remember to keep the game audio levels low enough to be heard, but not too extreme on either end of the spectrum.

Like I said, it was a test. The mic wasn't playing nice with the capture device, and since I wasn't streaming I didn't know how out of whack it was. Most of the video I'm audible, but there are moments where the mix is a real problem. Know that I have a plan for this going forward. I have plans to produce similar content very soon. I was bummed this wasn't like I wanted but I was obligated by the sender to do something with it and did not desire to play it again. Doing so would be both painful and inauthentic.

If it makes you feel any better we can send you a copy of SONIC 06 and you can play that instead.

The audio didn't seem like much of an obstacle to enjoying this for me. James has always been one of my favorite parts of RFN, so I'm looking forward to more!

No, no... if we're going to send you something, it's going to be something you can't stand, like a recent Tales game, or worse, a recent Ys game...

James, or Crimm, I was too inspired by this not to make an account on the forums now. This is Dellainey, and again your welcome for the gifts.

Firstly you are doing the knuckle jump wrong, that was the same copy I played to completion that I sent you, and yes I bought that game at 60 dollars gladly after seeing video and reviews. To be honest you played a part of the game I never even saw because I jumped over a door in that hub area and skipped about half the game. I purposefully broke that game for my entertainment but also they really should have caught it in testing if they even tested it. But the AI is horrible in that game, like when you split characters and you could see the other in the back ground its amazing how useless they are. From standing around to constantly jumping like knuckles. I think that Sega made a game but they only did that, behind the scenes or anything isn't in the forefront is a train wreck. If you clear a wall that blocks you with the infinite jump you fall into the ground forever, or if you do one thing out of order that it's trying to make you do it becomes a broken mess.

I think with Sonic, Sega should leave it alone. They should give it at least 3-5 years to be forgotten. Then come back and release something 2D. They obviously can't do 3D, they have made multiple horrible 3D games but with games like Sonic Rush, Sonic Generations, and Sonic Colors they can make at least good games, maybe not great but at least something that gets good to average scores. Sega needs to make a good at least 2.5D sonic game before they even think about doing another 3D one. Now Sega said they aren't gonna focus on console games as much, and that Sonic Boom was the worst selling Sonic game. It's ridiculous that they think its that people don't like Sonic. People do want Sonic, not me, but there are ones that want Sonic games. At one point in time Sonic was more recognizable than Mario. Again I don't like Sonic, I think that he is a lame mascot and has always been lame but there is a demand.

As I have said to you before James I will keep my promise and play Sonic 06 to the end, and your welcome again for giving you the best game from last year.

For the sake of James I deleted the email he sent me with his address, I don't think James can take many more terrible games. Sad too, I could have preordered the new Pokemon mystery dungeon game on Amazon and send it to him directly

Well, maybe we should push to request that he review the game as a childs play stretch goal.

(plus I know Gates to Infinity added some mechanics and tweaks (that attack level up system sounds interesting) he might appreciate so I'm curious as to how much that plus the, 'holy crap its been 7 years since the explorers games came out, ' aspect affects or changes his opinion.)

I liked the first couple mystery dungeon games but the latest one on 3ds I couldn't even get through the demo, no one would shut up. It was like I was suddenly playing Pokemon ranger and everyone had to tell me everything about there life.

Also to get back to Sonic Boom as James meant jones about the talking, that doesn't stop. And the reminders about tutorials doesn't stop either. In the last level they were still saying you should hit buttons. The characters in that game don't stop talking ever.
