(So really when did this about face happen?)
So anyway I was in the shopping center demanding to know where they kept the western potatoes when Drive Safe came around with Simple Plan blaring out telling me that driving on the wrong side of the road is ok if the other guy is drunk while I immediately jumped on my dirt racer to zoom out of ther

I'm not sure why, but the PC gaming industry seems solidly western.

Cuz most Japanese dating sims (and other naughty software) don't get localized elsewhere.

Once again im misunderstood or misinterpreted. This is why i rarely revisit a thread after i post. The issue is NOT whether a game is made in Japan or the US. The issue IS games made that appeals to the US market. For example, RE4 and Killer 7 were made in Japan by Japanese Developers. Both were excellent games (thats an understatment for RE4). And among my favorites of this generation, with RE4 among my all time favs. Hopefully we ALL know that those games were not even remotely developed with the japanese market in mind. Killer 7 was made specifically for the US market. Thats straight out of Suda's mouth. Point is, i loved those games as many others did. Capcom is among my favorite developers if not my most. The fact that they are Japanese is Irrelvant. Killer 7 is even ANIME style and i still loved it and i generally cant stand that stuff. Its all about themes and not styles per se.

Fact is we didnt get enough of these type of games. I want more and i suspect others do to, hence the xbox and ps2 dominance in the US.  They cater to the US and Developers know this. Since games like these are more likely to sell there they get developed for those consoles and not NIntendo. I remember the outcry when RE4 and Killer 7 were announced on the PS2. We cried (yes i was upset too) that our exclusive gems were being whored out to the PS2. This was all preordained. Capcom already knew these games werent going to do as well as hoped so they Planned on porting the "Capcom 5" and cancelling one well before it was announnced.

Our crying about the PS2 ports should tell us something. We get so few of these quality games that we hold on to dear life when we get them and feel betrayed when they are whored out. That tells me that our beloved GC is exceedingly lacking on these type of games. If GC had the library of the PS2 i doudt the outcry of RE4 on PS2 would have been as potent. SO this is what im saying, I want NIntendo to try to win back the US so we get more good games or games in general for the US market. I care less who develops them as long as they get made. I have NO problem with Nintendo getting Japanese style games. I like some and others love them all. Which is good for them. But There is no reason why we cant have both.

Thats the crux of my issue. PS2 has billions of games for each market as did Nintendo back in the day. I wish for those days to return. I shouldnt have to wait years between Eternal Darkness and RE4 with only Metroid Echoes in between(actually there are a few others but still). I wish Geist was developed by Nintendo or some other Japanese company so it would have came out better. But its probably not N-spaces fault, Nintendo knew it was going to sell so neither put there best effort. Which is too bad for Giest and us, the Nintendo gamer. A good game that could have been great. Sigh...

All i want are more games like RE4 and Metroid, Eternal Darkness. These games are much more popular here in the US than in Japan, in which they are essentially hated. It matters not the place of origin. Japan in general dont like these types of games. RE4 in Japan didnt sell well and its a Japanese game. It did great here and i want more myself. Is that too much to ask. Is My wanting NIntendo to do better here so we get more of these type of games here outlandish? I dont think so. All i ask is that Nintendo put more effort in the US market and not concentrate soley in Japan as if we dont exist. NIntendo is a huge company and it can satisfy all of us. They just need to open their eyes a bit. Its in there best interest anyways. They will make the most money here. Welp here hopin for RE5 on the REV. lol now that i think of it, we may not even get RE5. Now that will blow. Nintendo better do something damnit. I dont want to hear that they dont know the hardware BS. Not much more is known about the PS3 to announce RE5 for it and not the REV. Damnit im pissed now thinking about it ergggg.....

I believe Geist was N-space's fault.  =D

A developer can only do so much depending on SO LITTLE practical experience (and talent).  Geist > StarFox Adventures, tho.

PC gaming doesn't exist in Japan. Whether it's because PCs are huge and few people can fit one into an appartment or whether PC games cost 80$ I don't know.

As far as I know theres a considerable market for PC games in Japan, but its basically the naughty dating sims that have been mentioned. Those rarely jump to consoles and if they do I think they are considerably edited.

Dating sims aren't as big of a market as they often seem, they're just dirt cheap to make and therefore everyone does it. There's also a commercial indie scene on the PC in Japan but it's not a big factor, either.

I agree that Nintendo shouldn't ignore the american market (and I don't think they are - they've made frequent reference to how the controller will be good for shooters even though shooters aren't popular in Japan, and the non-gamer issue is universal.) But I also find myself caring much more for how the rev does in Japan because, well,  my sensibilities seem to be more Japanes than American. I care more about games like Pheonix Wright, Mario, Trauma Center, etc, than I do about Halo. I'm attracted to things which electronics which are small rather than gigantic. I prefer cute to cool. And I love the rev's controller, which, while I think it'll have universal appeal, was made with decidely Japanese sensibilities. In short, a big reason I think I love Nintendo so much is because they're so Japanese, and I cringe a little bit every time I hear someone say they need to pander more to Americans. Because I don't want them to start pandering to people other than me.

With that said, the rev doing poorly in America would be bad for a number of reasons. I don't want it to do badly here - in fact, I want it to be number one. But I wouldn't mind second, or even third place. So long as it's number one in Japan.

Nosferat2: I hate to say this, but have you considered switching to another console?  It seems like Xbox or even PS2 would be much more suited to your taste in games.  If Nintendo isn't doing it for you, then look elsewhere.
That's my opinion, not yours.
