You can't just judge a company by their past, but by what they are doing now...the past is a completely different company...different employees, different directions, different style of games.

If Nintendo was judged by their past record then they would still dominate, but Nintendo is being judged by their past and present record and several games that have come out from Nintendo just hasn't appealed to the general public.

Just like Rare's past performances throughout the history of gaming has been pretty good, but recently they have appeared to be going downhill so yeah I view the company for who they are now...understanding that it can change at anytime.

It appears a lot of people here actually are picky to who supports Nintendo :S  With the dwindling support they are getting why do you feel you can be picky?  I understand Nintendo has said time and time again "quality over quantity" but in reality with a large quantity it's almost impossible to find no quality.  I'm not sure how things will play out but I am fairly confident that if Ninty gets some key supporters early on then the Rev.'s support will have a better chance of growing to close in on the other consoles.

What is important is that consumers see that the big-name games are being released on the Rev., along with the other two consoles.  Ubisoft is one of my favorite developers because of the range of games they deliver (a lot of them I find top-quality).  Tell me none of these games/IPs get you excited:

Rayman
Prinse of Persia
Splinter Cell
Beyond Good and Evil
Ghost Recon
Rainbow Six
XIII
Myst
Far Cry
King Kong

...alright those are all I can think of but I think that shows some good potential for what could come to Rev.

I want everybody to support Nintendo, but realize I have very very limited money.  I don't buy alot of games.  And my limited funds means I have 1 console system and 1 portable and that is all.

I am happy that Ubisoft has committed to make some games for Revolution.  What I don't get is those that snub other developers and then complain about losing others.  I want alot of developers, but I want them to realize that unless their product is the best it can be it won't be getting my dollar...and in fact it may be amazing and still not get my dollar.

Same here...But you sort of forgot Bomberman, since Ubisoft has been publishing the latest ones...

That said, I'm with Spak...I only have so much I can buy, and what I buy needs to be quality...If a company doesn't provide me quality games, I WILL be selfish and say I don't care about them...

I'm not interested in Ubisoft's games either but I recognize that a lot of people do and they are well made games even if I'm not personally interested in them.  I feel that Ubisoft's support is important even if it is largely uninteresting.

But nobody can say "we've got Ubisoft" as if that's going to convince me the Rev has solid support.  I remember back during the Cube post-launch drought Nintendo sent out a press release BRAGGING about all the support they had.  Well they did have a lot more games coming out during that time then they had during the last year of the N64's life but all of the games SUCKED so it didn't matter.  So what I consider acceptable third party support is meaningful support from third parties that deliver the goods on a consistent basis.  Ubisoft doesn't fit into that mold.  Their support is still important because, let's face it, if Ubisoft jumped ship Nintendo wouldn't be able to get anyone.  Quantity is important as well particularly as a marketing tool.

All third parties are not equal and not all games are equal.  That's an important distinction that I hope Nintendo realizes so they don't just attract Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Midway, and THQ and think that that's good enough because they've got Tony Hawk and Madden.

I DID say I'm selfish...

Obviously Ninty sees 3rd party support is a lot more important than I personally do, and I'm sure they'll do their best to pull them on board...Iwata has even said that he "is trying to get every game that is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 to the Revolution"...Of course, this is an exaggeration considering he couldn't possibly get 1st party games, but it does show that Iwata knows the importance of support...

BG&E and the first Prince of Persia were both excellent.  That's about it.

That being the case, I'm still happy UbiSoft is supporting Nintendo.

I almost bought FarCry last week for $20, but got UT2004 instead.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I think I own like 12-15 Gamecube games.

I bought 8-10 of them.  The others I got as gifts.

Of those games, almost all of them were bought new, and almost all of them are Nintendo published.  The games that aren't Nintendo published are:

SSX 3
Bomberman Generations
TimeSplitters 3
TimeSplitters 2
Viewtiful Joe

I am highly picky about my games, but I am willing to pay full price for a good game and give the publishers and developers their due money.  In fact I usually make it a habit of buying new, except with my GBA games.

If I had my complete say I would only have Nintendo published games, Nintendo licensed games (like Sega doing F-Zero) and a select group of 3rd parties that are committed to not only working on Nintendo games, but working with Nintendo themselves to makes these games the best possible.

Sure my method would have possible draughts in games, but I would rather know each month 1 single great game I want to buy comes out than 3-4 games that are dung.

SK and F5 are not overrated.  The only problem is F5 made the same game three times rather than doing something original which would have been more valuable.

Capcom seems to believe they have to have HD to make RE5, and really from what I can tell the game seems to be taking the benjamin route.  They didn't make enough money from part 4 even though gamers loved it so they are going to make something marketable.

I can see how Black Hawk Down can provide inspiration for Halo, but RE?  WTF?  Go back and watch some horror movies.

It was a shame losing Silicon Knights and Factor 5, but future support from them is not to be ruled out.  Plus, Iwata has been doing his best to gain more 3rd party support.  There is nothing to worry about.

The good news is Yuji Naka has been quoted recently saying, "I am under a strict NDA, so I can´t really say much. But I have seen the Revolution and I think everyone will be very pleasantly surprised, when Nintendo reveal everything."

And, "I look forward to the 'new kind of fun' that's always unique to Nintendo. I expect we’ll see a lot of surprises, such as the unannounced controller as well. I think it’s great that we'll be able to play Famicom and other games via Internet download. I hope that some Sega games will be playable as well."

Sonic Team, in my opinion should focus all efforts on a single Sonic/Knuckles game, a single Knights game, and something original.  Billy Hatcher was original and much more interesting than Shadow the Hedgehog.

...I honestly don't care either, but for the sake of Nintendo's success, hooray.

But what I do care about is that this (probably) confirms that UbiSoft has seen the controller.  So it's out there.  Naka's seen it.  Matt's seen it.

Except Iwata himself said that the reason RE5 wasn't confirmed for Rev was because Capcom hasn't seen it.  Honestly, if Capcom hasn't seen it, why would SEGA have seen it?  Sonic Adventure 2: Battle sold all right but the rest of SEGA's games for the Cube (or any system this generation, really, with the exception of Sonic Advance and its sequels) didn't exactly sell like hot cakes (what does that phrase even mean?)...

Um, Sega has sold the most console games this generation on the Gamecube...They have on the other hand sold the least games on Xbox, which also ironically had the most exclusive games...SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE, SEGA!

If Capcom really hasn't seen the interface and Sega has (I haven't actually heard about Capcom not seeing it until now, and Naka's comments tell us nothing) I would guess it's because Sega showed more interest, or Nintendo wants to partner up with Sega more than Capcom.

I think it's very possible Sega is more interested than Capcom, because Sega was very big into innovation and risk-taking during the Dreamcast era, and even now it's still doing a bit of that with games like Feel the Magic.  Capcom, on the other hand, has always been about developing a new franchise and then milking it like there's no tomorrow.   Viewtiful Joe 2 didn't even sell very well, yet there are two new games being released this year!  Don't get me wrong though, I like both of them.

That's my opinion, not yours.

Sega has a longer relationship with Capcom I think.  But it could also mean that not everyone at Capcom has seen it, but some have...just like I beat not everyone at Sega has seen it...yet the creator of Sonic has...hmmm makes perfect since to me.

I would love Nintendo to try and partner completely with Sega and Sammy.  I think Nintendo should have bought Sega instead of Sammy...Sega's development teams and IPs with Nintendo's technical skills and development team's skills would have made an unbeatable team.

That would have been the most innovative duo ever.

I like Capcom.  I think they are a very talented group of developers, but at the end of the day I think they are less about innovation and more about making the games that mainstream will buy.

Bill:  That is possible.  If I was under NDA, I wouldn't say I can't talk about it...I would just say I don't know anything, sorry.

But at the same time, if I did know something about it, and I was planning to use it, and I was excited I would do exactly what the Sega guy did.  Definately know about it, can't talk...though it will rock your bottom off and into a river.

Overrated or not what's better?  Factor 5 and Silicon Knights support or dick all nothing?  What did we gain from them jumping ship?  Nothing.  It's the same thing with Rare.  You can say that towards the end they weren't delivering.  But we still lost a developer on a console that was struggling with support from the beginning.  Call those devs overrated all you want.  The truth is PS3 and Xbox 360 owners now have even more games to choose from and we have less.  Overrated games are still better than months going by with literally no games released at all.  We're at a point where any third party suggesting support at all is considered a big deal.  Losing ANY support at this point is significant.

SK and Rare were both money sinks for Nintendo that weren't panning out. Rare had been doing.. what.. 2 years between major releases. And a lot of them weren't selling well. SK was doing the same thing and asking Nintendo for bigger budgets. And their games weren't selling well.

Ubisoft is pretty hit-or-miss, sometimes they produce a lot of crap but often their titles get a lot of critical acclaim. The only thing that bothers me is that Ubi's games NEVER appeal to me.
