Nintendo Gaming / RE:Datel Max Media Dock

I'm pretty sure walmart only sells the $40 dock, which doesn't include the hard drive.  This is the better choice than the one with the included hard drive, since that drive is too slow to do much of anything.  Get a compact flash (I got a 2 gig at walmart for 75 bucks) and enjoy.  The playable game list is better than most people say but for a lot of games you might need a donor cartridge.  Essentially, you put in an old game that you don't play anymore (like mario 64 ds) and the new game will save over that one.  (It just saves over the save file, not the actual game).  There are some really cool homebrews (and make sure you get Moonshell.  It has a much better mp3 player than the built in player)  Just be careful you don't download a virus that'll brick your system.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:The next generation of FPS control (long post)

I was playing around with my Wii and spent a good amount of time just playing in the Mii channel.  Anyway, in the plaza you can move your pointer around and scroll across the whole plaza and I just thought it was the perfect size bounding box (and turning speed) for a FPS.

I don't like the idea of no bounding box.  You have to dedicate a button to locking the screen (so the player can reset the wii-remote to a neutral position.)  Otherwise, if you look right and then look right again, eventually your remote will be far to the right and if you try to recenter it you end up looking to the left.  BUT, dedicating a button to locking the screen is not a good idea since the wii already has fewer buttons than developers are used to and using one of them for something the other consoles can do without the need for an additional button just makes matters worse.

That's the internet I want!

On a more serious side, I've seen analysts saying things that put any and all 3 on top, but it makes sense, since analysts are paid to guess anyway.

Q: Your background is in marketing. Without divulging competitive secrets, can you characterize your marketing plan?
A: It's going to be massive amounts of hands-on activity, as well as showcasing exactly how Wii games are different. We're going to create advocacy. We're going to make it so that everyone who tries the Wii experience talks to their friends and neighbors. It's going to be a really provocative sight to be seeing teens and 20-year-olds and 40-year-olds and 50-year-olds talking about how different this experience is.

Reggie hates 30-year-olds.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Complete List of Wii Launch Titles

Personally, I would like Mario Galaxy just before Christmas, and Smash Bros to show up when stocks of the Wiis start building up again after the initial sellout(s).  This way, there will be three strong pushes for the system, which should build up a good user base.  Plus, when Smash Bros comes out, the late-comer third parties should be ready for their first batch of games.  I really would hate to see Nintendo holding back games and only releasing two major games per year.  Based off of previous succesful systems, I want to see two-three Mario games, two Metroids, two-three Zeldas, and a bunch of new IPs.  Besides, if Project HAMMER turns out well, it can really make a push when released alongside Mario or SSBB.

"85% of statistics are false, including this one" would probably be more accurate lol.

Yeah... that's kinda the whole point of the joke.... y'know, nevermind.  I'll tell you when you're older.

I find it hard to see the point in even addressing an "analysis" like this one... Whoever would agree with something like this is so completely set in their ways that they'd be blind to even the most well formulated logic.  The review of the "unimpressive" line-up is the hardest part to swallow, since it's obvious it went out of the way to find bad points in all the games (and dismissed some without any information whatsoever).  I would be hard pressed to find someone that agreed that Metroid Prime 3, LoZ:TP, Trauma Center, Wii Sports, Red Steel, and Rayman composed an unimpressibe launch line-up.  And those games are only one fourth of the announced group!  Sure, there are some games that are bound to be duds, but those will be on every system.
I'm going to have to end my review of this analysis lest I be hypocritical since I did say there was no point in addressing it. :-p

I agree, Sonic Rush is anything but a stale rush job.  It may very well be the best Sonic game ever (it certainly blows away any of the 3d Sonics thus far) and is, next to Mario Kart, my favorite game to grab when I just need to kill a few minutes.
