Nintendo Gaming / RE: My Revolution Conspiracy Theory

Nothing different from what is said above. Many have, and will continue to say, that the Revolution is likely not to have any tricked out specs, but its the controller that will make most of the difference, and thats what matters.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: "the graphics...barely better than those on Gamecube"

Both EGM and Gameinformer are both anti-Nintendo from the day they were conceived.

My take is that if Nintendo plays its cards right, it will set up for both MS and Sony the same failure conditions that dethroned Nintendo in the N64 era. Remember, the PSX came into the foray with nothing, and took down Nintendo just like that. Well, not just like that, since Nintendo really didn't loose any market, but it caused them not to gain any and deprived Nintendo of 3rd party support for 2 whole generations.

Whatever it is, I think the DS is definitely proof of strategy for the Revolution. Yamauchi said that Nintendo lifeline would ride on the success of the NDS, and successful it was. The Revolution does not need to have tricked out graphics, it just needs to have good graphics, and we already know for example, that the Gamecube has good graphics so we can be assured that the Revolution will have comparable graphics to the other consoles (since those other consoles still don't have anything that comes as strong as the PC video cards anyways). As long as the Revolution gives you noticiably better graphics, thats good enough. As said by Iwata, there will be an upgrade, but it won't be massive. All you need is an architechture that plays games efficiently and can support the demands of next generation AI processing for a good challenge. The real meat of the system is in the interface. Just like the DS, the interface is what hooked on many developers. Sure, Nintendo could have made an upgrade to the GBA, and released a GBA2 that was just a portable Gamecube and sold it for $300+, and if it were to go up against, the PSP, Nintendo would probably loose. Instead, the DS's plays 3D games and performs well. Its no PSP level graphics, but thats not what matters. In having created a peice of hardware that reminded all the developers about what making games is all about, the developers have jumped onto the DS for the creative opportunities, and even if all the Sony fanboys outnumber the Nintendo fans, the NDS will simply crush their dreams because the developers won't be making as much for the PSP. With an already existing Nintendo fanbase, the developer's choice was reaffirmed, and eventually, those Sony fanboys will realize their PSP is nothing better than a half baked media player, and internet browser and dump it.

This same strategy will help the Revolution. Same kind of strategy in the design of hardware. A definite upgrade of hardware, but as people who build, built, or have bought custom computers, the price of technology is climbs unproportionately after you get to a certain level and reach the upper levels of avaliable tech. So there exist a certain level of technology where you are comfortable with, and with which will play games well, have good graphics, etc, but not cost buckets of money like the top of the line Alienware PC system. Whats important is that the Revolution has already gained the applaud of just about every 3rd party developer out there, having again reminded them of what making games is really about, and the creative possibilities of having both a unique input system, as well as a conventional controller. Again, I think that once the 3rd parties latch on to here, the same strategy will play out as with the DS vs PSP.

Whether its just an upgrade or completely new console... its not that important. The controller component of the Revolution is probably many times more crutial than any technical detail - rest assured that the Revolution will definitely be several times stronger than the Gamecube already.

Not happening. When Nintendo said that pursuing graphical upgrades won't make the console industry stay alive, I think what they really meant is graphical upgrades ALONE won't keep the industry alive. In other words, just as Iwata has said in his other press releases, the Revolution will have comparable technology and graphics to the other consoles, but on top of that, its got a brand new way of playing games through its controller. While the Revolution may not have exactly as high par graphics and processing speed as the other consoles, they'll probably have comparable technology that will definitely be an damned good upgrade from the GC.

Do any of these companies hear from anyone anyways ?

Looks like Blizzard is no longer listing the Gamecube under their FAQ as one of the consoles that Ghost is being released for. It maybe old news, but I get the feeling its canned for the GC. Anyone know ?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: New Advance Wars DS screens

Its a shame that Advance Wars DS won't be going online, it would have been the next logical add on.

None the less, analysts are a realistic source of bias and bandwagoning in any market, and the console market is no exception. Whomever pulls their strings can make or break a console.

Actually, in China, Chinese medicine is used in conjunction with chemotherapy and radiation to get what case reports have shown to be better cancer treatment results. No major scientific data, just reports. Cancer, is not a modern disease btw.

11
The only scientific so called alternative medicine to date is traditional Chinese medicine, which is a result of Imperially funded, systematic trial and error, experimenting, reasoning, etc. To date, its the only the only major type of alternative medicine shown to have efficacy.

I'm sorry, homeopathy is pure bunk. All they give you is color water anyways. You call that real medicine ? I call it the miracle drug called  pla-ce-bo.

12
Look Gamebasher, you want someone who knows some medicine... then I'll give some as a someone in the field... and homeopathic "doctors" are not real doctors. In Europe, they may be certified, but many pure homeopaths are quacks who don't get real training, and the ones who are medical doctor's who get additional homeopathic training .... well whenever they prescribe you homeopathc medication, its really just water with trace active ingrediant.

Homeopathic doctor's don't cure you either. Their whole deal is to give diluted poison to treat poison. The scientific data doesn't support anything they do. Here in the US, they're just quacks. Hell, here in the US, you can just open a shop today, call yourself a homeopath and no one law agency can do anything about it.

What you have is most likely a classic migraine. Go the physician, and get his advice, and get some Imitrex if you have another rip roaring migraine. Other than that, usually some ibuprofen immediately when you feel a headache come on is probably the best route.

The one thing that concerns me however, is... assuming you're a young adult, is why you're getting them now, and not earlier. The reason many people here urge you to go the physician is so he can examine your head and make sure there isn't a brain tumor or something else serious going on inside your brain causing this new onset headache.

And the disclaimer I attach here is that I haven't seen you or evaluated you so I have nothing to do with this really. Just go to a REAL physician.

Btw... just because millions of people suffer from illnesses that doctor's can't cure, doesn't mean that many of these illnesses can't be controlled so you're reall suffering from them - which is usually GOOD enough. Obviously all that scientific evidence is used to figure out what works as effective treatments, and if something is curable, or just treatable, or if more work is needed to find a better treatment/cure. What matters is for the most part, when you can treat the symptoms, the patient is functional and can get on with their lives.

The other thing is you're being very unreasonable. There is no such thing as a cure all in this world. We cure one disease, new ones appear. And you're being very unreasonable in expecting that the human body is some kind of super machine in which all ailments in it can be fixed. Its like saying you can't trust mechanics because they're not able to fix cars that are totally screwed up from the manufacturing plant, or totalled in a wreck. And don't be discounting all the blood and sweat doctor's put into the daily research to find cures and treatments.

You shouldn't have been too quick to sell your DS. What you have here sounds most likely what we would call a classic migraine, seeing that you have an aura of flashing lights before you developed a headache.

However, I don't know how old you are, but if migraines are not something you've ever experienced... you need to see a physician to either be worked up to rule out the possibility of something worst going on inside your skull, or get a referral to see a neurologist - although I suspect its most likely not something as serious that requires you to see a neurologist, but rather something your primary care physician can probably just give you some Imitrex for in case it happens again.

Granted you never know if the DS screen for some reason triggered a migraine (a possibility but rather unlikely), but it doesn't sound like you ever gave it a second try before dumping it.

Nintendo Gaming / Does the Nintendo DS hook up to the GC ?
« on: December 11, 2004, 09:30:59 AM »
I never thought about it until now, and actually don't remember reading anything about it, but knowing that linking between the GBA games and GC games are important, and the DS does have backwards compatability. But does it actually have the capability to take current GBA to NGC link cable ?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Namco traded and I'm not happy...

Well I wouldn't worry too much. The Tales team has voiced interest in the DS, and one might come for the DS. Besides, there are 2 wings to the Tales series. Theres a Tales of Phantasia wing which is on Nintendo, and a Tales of Destiny wing which is on Sony.

Although its only 2 games, Tales of Phantasia and its sequel Symphonia have at least been on Nintendo so lets hope the trend continues.
