Nintendo Gaming / RE: New Forum Poll - Please Participate!
« on: June 15, 2004, 12:31:13 AM »
Yeah, they are meant to keep you from re-encoding or changing formats but there are usually ways around that. For those of you having problems with watching these videos or only getting half the streams (just getting video or audio but not both) I would suggest the k-lite codec pack at k-litecodecpack.com .  I use their codec packs and have yet to find a video I couldn't watch with these codecs and Media Player Classic (another must-have imho). However, if you don't have a Windows machine... I don't really know where you can get codecs other than at their respective sites (e.g. divx.com).

Oh yeah, and just so this post stays on-topic, I voted that the vids are nice but I haven't d/led any yet. Mostly because I haven't seen anything I wanted to d/l yet (not horribly interested in the screw attack and I saw the zelda promo elsewhere).

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Question about the Freeloader.

If it runs at the PAL frequency of 50Hz (which I'm assuming it does) then it isn't going to be vry playable. Screen will be black and white most likely with picture jumping and who knows what else.  Not fun at all.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:To SP or not to SP...
« on: November 25, 2003, 04:20:03 PM »
Well, coming from a person who imported the original gba from Japan and bought the SP the day it came out I must say that you couldn't make me go back to my gba. I have largish hands also and thought that the sp might be to small for me but the shoulder buttons fit well on my fingers and after using the sp for awhile I actually liked the new shoulder buttons better. I can understand the games over hardware argument but in this case there is such a great difference in the hardware. For me the light alone made all the difference in the world. And yes, the light issue did bug me w/ my old gba, I just didn't like having to realign myself 20 times to find just the right spot with enough light but not too much glare. Go with the SP, you'll be happy you did.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:GBA Player questions
« on: November 25, 2003, 07:39:18 AM »
I will have to agree with everyone else and say that while the player makes games slightly more blurry, I think it is worth it just to be able to play all the gba games you can't get on the old consoles. Plus, its nice to be able to sit back and put the game on my tv when I get home while I let my sp have a little break .

Lol, a dog chewing on cords? that's nothing. I remember spending lot's of time repairing my friend's n64 controllers everytime I went to his house it seemed. Their cat was the worst (I always kinda hoped the little guy would bite the cord and get a little shock but no such luck).

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2 Multiplayer on Preview Disk
« on: June 02, 2003, 10:36:51 AM »
Yeah, I noticed the two controller icon on the box that said "two-player simultaneous(sp?)" and assumed they were talking about Soul Calibur but good point as there are most likely some people that have yet to notice that.

Hey guys! I was watching the news and managed to pop a tape into the vcr in time to catch a report about the "NintendoMobile" going through Houston. This video has some footage and info about Viewtiful Joe, F-Zero GX, and the GBA SP. Unfortunately the news crew didn't get direct feed of the games so the game footage is from a tv screen. All the same it is interesting to watch. I can encode a higher-bitrate file but I don't have the bandwidth to host such so if anyone is interested in hosting let me know!

http://www.tracerx.net/media/ninmobile.asf <wmp9 file><2.4M>

I will be keeping an eye on my bandwidth allotment and may have to remove this if too many people use it though as small as the file is it shouldn't come to that.

Ahh Josh, lets not forget constant play slamming the controller around during heated SSBM matches. Die Nintendo! Your products last too long! Even my original GameBoy won't stop working :-| *end sarcasm*

Though I was definitely NOT embarassed to get Pokemon Sapphire, I can understand where this thread idea comes from. It's unbelievable some of the looks and comments I get when people ask what I'm playing and I tell them its Pokemon Sapphire. You would think that once you were in college people would be able to judge by more than the mythical "cool" factor but apparently some people never grow up.

BTW, before those of you that don't like Pokemon start flaming me I'm not griping about people who have at least tried it and decided it wasn't for them. I'm talking about the people who won't even give the game a chance because "that game's for kids!".

Nintendo Gaming / Mad Catz Accessories for SP
« on: March 24, 2003, 08:11:20 PM »
Just thought I'd update everyone that you can now see all of Mad Catz accessories on their website. As of 1:15amCST this page is not linked by the main site but clicking the link takes you directly to the GBASP section. I know I wanted to see this stuff and thought that other might as well.

Nintendo Gaming / Still Smashing?
« on: March 24, 2003, 07:31:16 PM »
I don't see how anyone could stop smashing! True, I and my friends took a "break" from SSBM for a couple of weeks awhile back but other than that almost every Sunday afternoon in front of the tv playing. I'd like to say that this is the limit but we also have a really bad habit of playing during the week starting at about 10pm and not quitting until 2am-4am (not a good idea for college students with 8am classes). There's nothing like the rush from a good 8 person stock battle of Pikachu vs. Link/Young Link/Fox (one guy can't ever make up his mind) vs. Samus (me). Add this to the occasional extra person coming in and creating some 4-person craziness and you've got a good time.
BTW, Pikachu and Samus on the same team equals OWNAGE
