Nintendo Gaming / RE: Ultimate Brain/Card Games to be... Online?!
« on: April 17, 2005, 05:22:51 PM »
With wireless networking, making internet playable games is going to be a pretty comming thing.  Everyone already has the adaptor, no need to buy anything but the game if you have a wireless LAN.  These are getting more and more common.

News stories are written fast.  Whoevever gets the information to them first is quoted and the story is sent out.  If a news source was late, would anyone read it?  Nope.  Not enough at least.  Untill the generally idea that faster is better changes, innacuracies will exists.  And it is also imporant to note that mainstream media knows FAR more about politics than technology.   These guys are english majors, political science majors, other liberal arts majors.  Not any sort of science or technology.  They are trained to report on the economy and other such industries.  And something interesting to point out, if the mainstream news is always wrong, where do you get your news on  video games?  Gamespot, ign, PGC, EGM, CGW, all of these agencies ARE mainstream.  CNN and Reuters etc are simply larger.  Ziff Davis and the others aren't exactly "under ground".

I enjoyed the movie a lot.  I saw it opening night and was blown away by how closely it tied to the comic.  I do feel terrible for the directors, everyone saw Terantino's name and forgot anyone else worked on it.

I played the demo and have been looking foreward to this game.  Just feels so addictive.  I love games like this that I can enjoy between my classes and on my breaks.

When I can freakin afford one.  Picking up my DS next week.  Who knows for the PSP.  It is a good machine, and has some games I am interested in, but not enough yet.

To be honest, no console actually has replay.  Unless you get some sick pleasure out of going through the menu.

I like my purple cube.  :-/  Made it stand out.  I liked the handle too...  was actually a useful feature.  Guess I guess looks count for more than utility.

I never really had a problem seeing the eject button.  Always liked it more than just pulling the carts out.

General Gaming / RE: Xbox 2 suffer same doom as dreamcast?
« on: February 17, 2005, 01:52:06 AM »
The Dreamcast failed due to early release because it was Dreamcast.  PS2 launched before GCN and Xbox, seems to be doing quite fine to me.

Sega wasn't as cool, SNES still raked in cash.  Nintendo needed to be nocked down a notch at that point, in my oppinion.  They had too much control.

Actually, homebrew/indie games are usually clones or close copies, like this one.  Still cool though.  I loved the stuff that came out of DC and other systems.

Well, as long as we're showing off our setups...

Yeah, I have a Sony STR-DE897 Home Theatre Reciver with these Yamaha speakers.  Its a 7.1 system that outputs a jucy 770watts.  That number dosent account for the subwoofer, which is self powered.  With my current sub I am hitting a thick 890W.  It supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, dts, dts ES, dts:Neo6, Dolby Pro Logic II Decoding.  I'll tell ya, moives, music and games kick some serious arse on this setup. It is actually helpful to the gaming experience.  If enemy is making sounds or shooting or something and is not in your visual area, you can actually tell where they are (to the front, left or behind) depending on sounds spatial placement.

My Big Screen is coming this Tuesday!

I have that DVD player.  I like the nice clean setup there.  I would definatly imagin you'd hear every little bit with that system.  I'm not big on bass,  so mine suits me nicely.  Rattles my windows at the right moments and the speakers treat position very nicely, so I am happy.  Makes a huge difference in a game when it sounds(in the case of bass, feels) like you are there.  I would never go back to the TV speaker or a 2/2.1 setup.  I am hoping for digital surround sound for the revolution.

Did something similar to this for a while here.  We had 20 or so guys and we paid dues for a while and got games and network equipment and stuff.  Group owned it all.  We had weekly parties.  Basically you idea takes this and mixes it with the idea of a group like the boy scouts.  It could work.  But would take some doing.

They are probably going to have a similar style from game to game.  I don't really see that.  I agree with the above myself.
