News stories are written fast. Whoevever gets the information to them first is quoted and the story is sent out. If a news source was late, would anyone read it? Nope. Not enough at least. Untill the generally idea that faster is better changes, innacuracies will exists. And it is also imporant to note that mainstream media knows FAR more about politics than technology. These guys are english majors, political science majors, other liberal arts majors. Not any sort of science or technology. They are trained to report on the economy and other such industries. And something interesting to point out, if the mainstream news is always wrong, where do you get your news on video games? Gamespot, ign, PGC, EGM, CGW, all of these agencies ARE mainstream. CNN and Reuters etc are simply larger. Ziff Davis and the others aren't exactly "under ground".
