Nowadays its fairly easy to hook a computer up to a TV and just play games or do whatever that way. All you need is a TV with a VGA input, and most new ones have that these days...

There are probably also computers that can output their display to HDMI too, so that's also an option.

98% of people don't have their computer setup near the main living room TV(the big screen HDTV) to do a PC connection. Probably 80% of people don't even have a HDTV (27" and up) with a VGA connection on it in their bedrooms to hook a computer upto either.

Wrap your brain around this.

a.) Forwards compatibility. DS games can be played on DS2, and games programmed with that in mind will have bonus features when played on DS2 (See GB -> GBC)

b.) They announced it as coming to DS because the DS2 wasn't announced yet and the DS2 is compatible with the original DS. Cart form factor will likely be the same, and the game may be backwards compatible with the original DS, yet some functions outside of the basic Pokemon gameplay will only work when using a DS2(not to mention the graphical boost).

as for everything else you mentioned...
BC for DS - no brainer
SD card slot - doesn't the DSi have that now?
headphone jack - DS already has it
stylus holder - already there
AC adapter - see usb
USB - can be used for the AC adapter
A/V out - never heard of mini hdmi? just like mini usb only hdmi.

And I'd probably use the TV guide function because I hate waiting for the channel I want to see to scroll up. Plus the TV guide ads are annoying.

You know Nintendo has lied before about games coming out on certain systems, and even the existence of other systems.

They company said that Pokemon Generation 5 would come out the DS...well what if that is just to keep people from speculating on the DS2...and the new system is still coming with Pokemon being a launch game.

It would not surprise me or upset me if this was in fact true.

Shouldn't we start calling it 3DS?

I just realized that 3DS will 1-up the PSP2. 3 is higher than 2 and so it sounds newer. Remember that Microsoft made the 360 have that number because they didn't want to have an XBox 2 go against a PS3 and sound less new.
