I've only traded in like 5 or 6 consoles in my life there, probably even less (and that's over the past 10 years). Those values do suck, but they are doing double trade-in value today. I got $160 for an old 60GB PS3 (BC) just now, gonna put it towards a WiiU most likely. I probably could have just sold the PS3 locally for a lot more, but those things are pieces of crap, so at least whoever buys it from GameStop will be covered by their warranty for a while.

You just jinxed it. The only "fat" model PS3s I've yet to see get the YLoD are the CECHK01 and CECHP01. All of the ones before that are probably equally as prone - with the exception of the CECHH01 being the most common model we get with YLoD. I also find it kind of funny that the H01, K01, and P01 all have smaller motherboards than the Slim models, even though they are still in the fat cases, due to the large (and severely under-effective) aluminum heat sinks.

Oblivion, you should get something out of the deal for your troubles. You could insist they give you a slice or two, or only pass some of the discount on to them, and then you can pocket the rest. That way everyone wins.
