It's probably not a good time for a land war anywhere, and Nintendo has reacted appropriately with the Advance Wars remake collection.

Nintendo have confirmed the delay of Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp today in a Twitter post. No new date was given, with the request to "stay tuned for updates".

In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on April 8th. Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date.

The WayForward-developed strategy collection was originally slated to release on December 3, 2021 before a prior delay announcement, and was confirmed for April 8 in the last Nintendo Direct - all advertising by Nintendo was stopped after Russia began their invasion of Ukraine. The first localization of Advance Wars 1 has an infamous release of its own, launching on September 10, 2001.

Probably for the best. Releasing cartoony wargames while Ukrainian hospitals are being shelled feels wrong. If I'm not mistaken the first Advance Wars lets you capture cities to heal troops, which reads especially poorly while so many cities full of civilians are getting bombed indiscriminately.

Yeah it's very understandable why this game is being delayed again.  Literally the worst type of game you can release at the current time.  I've seen some people on other sites say the game will be canceled now which I doubt will happen.  The game is pretty much done at this point so there's nothing left to cancel.  Nintendo isn't exactly a stranger to sitting on finished games for quite a while before releasing them.

I completely understand this decision, it's the right thing to do under the circumstances, but I'm still disappointed as I was really looking forward to this. If only it had come out in December like it was supposed to.

The question is, do they let the team keep polishing this title or is it disbanded?  If they are reassigned, what happens if (when?) problems arise after launch is there a team left to address/patch them?
