Oh yeah. It's the spoiler thread.
Sylvie as in Silvie (Lushton)Laufeydottir, which I guess is Marvel's 2nd Enchantress

If you pay attention to the credits... she isn't completely credited as Loki.

In other news there is a palette swapped version of Scarlet Witch.

I just want a reason to care about the Suns again.

I like how they touched on the reverse butterfly effect. It's weird. They put into speech exact thoughts I've had on the subject.

Meteors, Natural Disasters, Apocalypses. These are all gigantic events that counter act the butterfly effect to some degree.  Because certain events are unavoidable then there would be an averaging effect on time over the course of history if one were to try to alter history.

I used to play this game called card game called Chrononauts, and there was a Back to the Future variant. In the game you play as different characters whose goal is to make history play out a certain way to ensure your existence. So, to make sure that you were born you had to make sure that certain "linchpin events" happened. An example of this in the BTTF version is Marty McFly, Marty McFly has to make sure that Lorraine Baines and George McFly kiss and the dance or he was just going to disappear.  In the regular version of the game you have to make sure the crash of the Hindenberg happens or the sinking of the SS Lusitania.

I like how the series is setting about to destroy the Marvel Canon which at this point has been sacrosanct. I'm ready for the Marvel Apocrypha.  Continuity has been too much of a problem. How do we get the X-men into the Marvel Universe? Simple, they exist in an alternate reality and the realities just need to be merged.

If I were to guess where the end of the series ultimately ends: The time keepers are just Loki. As In Me, Myself, and I.

I wouldn't want to play a game where the object is to put ghost peppers in your urethra. I'm not sure how you would turn that into a video game, but the idea of it is unpleasant.

I didn't go to Chic-fil-a since 2009 for the reasons listed above, I also wasn't too much of a fan as they were over-priced. McDonalds had that Southern Chicken sandwich and it tasted exactly the same and was cheaper.  But Chic-fil-A policies were reportedly improving since about 2017. My mom was really hungry one day in 2020, and figured an 11 year boycott was a long time.  Also, McDonalds had stopped carrying the southern chicken sandwich a while ago. I cracked. Their chicken nuggets are pretty good. Their prices are better than what they were.
I remember one time, around the time, maybe a little before the boycott was starting, it was a Sunday and they were closed so I went to Pollo Feliz instead.

I find it hillarious how the name could be translated.

I like Samas's suit. It doesn't change much, it's just enough to look different.

The game has a very resident evil 7 vibe, as in there is a constant chase. They had a little bit of that in fusion, but this seems persistent.

I did read through the thread. There were more interesting bits in the 2009 thread for Metroid Dread
IGN: [Laughing] We guess that answers it then. Okay, we have to ask about Metroid Dread. It popped up on an internal Nintendo release list awhile back and we haven't heard anything about it since.

Yoshio Sakamoto: This is quite awhile ago. A few E3s back. I can only say right now that this is Other M, it is not Metroid Dread. But as a concept the Metroid Dread idea does still exist within my mind so maybe sometime in the future I will be able to bring that to you.

IGN: Are you burned out on the prospect of doing another 2D Metroid, or does the possibility still excite you, maybe for WiiWare or DSiWare, if nothing else?

Yoshio Sakamoto: It's not as though my team or myself have grown tired of creating 2D games, but I think it's all what the concept is, what the game design is, and what best suits that whether it's on the Wii or DS. So moving forward, if an idea comes up that is best suited for DS then we'll pursue that.

Sounds pretty non-concrete to me. :/

But it felt like Nintendo did more of a bump than I did.

As far as ending in a weird place. Khush it's a matter of semantics. The thread never ended, it just went on hiatus. Just like the game. I'm sure there are some people on these boards that are even at age 20 still too young to understand this freakout by Arlo

While my reaction wasn't as big as Arlo's I did yell "yeaaaaash!!!" at my TV when the Dread title card appeared.

That I don't remember for sure. The biggest action was probably just closing some threads that got too heated.

Witnessing The Wind Waker for the first time was pretty nifty. It was certainly unexpected. I think I was initially a big supporter.

Nintendo Switch+ (NS+), Nintendo Switch Pro (NSP), Nintendo Switch 2 (NS2), Super Switch(NSS), or Nintendo Switch G2 (G2) would be names I would choose.

I feel like recreating the Motu trailer with the toys.

I've been in the network since 1999. I started off on opn2000 then that sort of merged with planetn2000 and then that became planetgamecube and that turned into nwr. Really crazy to think how far we've come since then. In the oldest version of the forums I told everyone I was a swamp creature made of broccoli. I rememeber I uploaded a drawing of my character and then they took our ability to post pictures away. We had to cater to dial up speeds back then. I'm 37, I've been here since I was 15.

TalkBack / Re: An Other M?
« on: June 08, 2021, 09:50:40 PM »
I really like Super Metroid, but I got stuck in it an never finished it. When I bought it on the Wii U shop, I had a pretty mentally taxing job at the time. I put Super Metroid on the backburner. I beat Metroid Fusion though. I also really loved Axiom Verge. I beat Prime and Echos(I think), but not Prime 3. When I heard that Other M mischaracterized Samus I never checked it out. I also was pretty skeptical about the control scheme.

They had me with Skeeter Davis "The End of the World" that song in particularly I really liked when I was playing Fallout 3.

I have a playlist of end of the world songs.

After watching Nomadland, Eternals might be more of an Olympian melodrama than superhero movie.

Movies & TV / Super Mario Bros. The Movie Extended Morton-Jankel Cut.
« on: June 07, 2021, 02:07:14 AM »
It looks like has an extended cut of Super Mario Bros. The Movie.
I watched it, it was interesting to see the additions. Some things that were spliced in that I remember from the VHS version, which I guess are not in the DVD cuts. I bought the DVD years ago, but I don't think I ever got around to watching it. Had I watched the DVD I probably would have thought I had seen some Mandela Version in the 90s. There were a few extended things like the car chase scene that made me think "why would you cut that out? Don't cut action!"

Restoration commentary:

"The film as released runs 104 minutes. This extended version runs a full 125 minutes, with 20 minutes of additional scenes. The editing has also been reworked throughout, and restored by filmmaker Garrett Gilchrist, well known for his restoration of The Thief and the Cobbler and many Muppet projects.

This version uses VHS sources for most of the film, for consistency. Otherwise identical edits sourced from DVD and Blu-Ray also exist, as well as a general restored workprint. We are exploring our options and further work will be done on this film later. However, the Archive Team has decided to release this version of the edit early, for the film's anniversary, and see what the fans think of it.

Previously-unseen deleted scenes include the Mario Bros running afoul of the (probably Mafia-connected) Scapelli plumbing company, Koopa murdering a technician by de-evolving him into slime, and Iggy and Spike rapping about the overthrow of King Koopa at the Boom Boom Bar. (Along with some dancing women who were censored for the theatrical cut.) There's more of Lena, Daniella and the Brooklyn Girls. Most scenes are extended in this version, with a lot more of the cast including Dennis Hopper as Koopa.

This edit attempts to do justice to a longer, earlier VHS workprint, but was not supervised by the directors directly. A future release may incorporate their notes."

I liked the Snyder Cut, but Army of the Dead was really meh.

I like some zombie movies, but not very many zombie movies are good. The last good piece of Zombie fiction was season one of The Walking Dead, and it was still not as good as the comic. I'd rank Army of the Dead somewhere between Zombieland 2 and Night of the Living Dead 3d(2006). So pretty mediocre.

We're going to play a new version of this game.

In the old version we would substitute an actors other role in another movie and or an approximation of what their character is and use our movie knowledge to solve the movie riddle.

In this version we'll point out how weird a movie is by using critical theory to make the movies sound like the absurdities they are. We'll still do the other thing too.

First Movie
After years a grooming a female senator starts a sexual relationship with a teenager in a priesthood. Another priest follows leads towards uncovering experiments being undertaken by the government.  The teenage priest undertakes a journey to his homeland where he finds that his mother has been kidnapped. He finds her and she dies. He murders a whole village in anger.
