It was a CDC press conference that was on shortly before I posted, of the CDC reversing guidelines, and being very cautious of not pissing off the anti-maskers by emphasizing that it wasn't a "mandate" just a "recommended guideline".

I was half listening while working, but the post conference news was trying to spin it as "rare" that a vaccinated person would carry the virus or be able to spread it. But the Delta variant reproduces much more rapidly and is much more contagious, so even vaccinated people are getting sick and spreading it to other vaccinated and unvaccinated people, because careless vaccinated people are running around thinking they are invincible and immune, forgetting they are still potential carriers and still potential spreaders, even if they aren't getting "sick" from the COVID they carry.

I'm just tired of this whole thing. I would like to think that if this wasn't ignored, and then massively mishandled from the get-go, that we'd be past all this already.... another "swine-flu/bird-flu" season passing type thing. If all they politicizing and misinformation campaign BS had been nixed before it even began by competent professionals in charge of these types of things, that maybe, we would've already been past this whole thing...

Instead we charge head-on towards "herd immunity" as quickly as possible by baiting the community to get vaccinated with promises of mask-less interactions being 100% safe, not that you shouldn't get vaccinated, just that you shouldn't think that just because you are, you are now immune and non-contaminable, when in reality, you just became the unaware sleeper spreader...

and I must pre-face this rant with the fact that I have 3 vaccinated friends that just tested positive, and 2 of them had to be hospitalized for a few days, so it's a little bit of a raw subject. /rant

edit: I just want to clarify that none of this rant was about being vaccinated or not being vaccinated. That's a choice that each individual will need to live or die with.

This was about the professionals in charge not having the balls to make the necessary calls for what needs to be done. Whether that is mandatory vaccinations is debatable, but a mandatory mask mandate, regardless of vaccination status, should not have been. It just makes sense to save a massive amount of lives while out in public and social settings while being minimally discomforting and not invasive at all.

This new variant is said to spread like chickenpox.... and some schools are already back in session.... and some of those schools have "optional" mask guidelines.... kids are just gonna unknowingly spread this **** everywhere, and the grownups are worried about the whiners who "can't breath" and need their "freedoms".

WE.ARE.NEVER.GETTING.PAST.THIS.MESS  (/real end to rant)

p.s. my daughter started school 2 days ago. mask are not options, they are mandatory, but kids will be kids, and the kids I'm worried about are the ones who parents are anti-masker types.... :/

Suicide Squad review are out and they are actually..... Really Good!!

quick summary of what i've read is that James Gunn clearly was free to do as he pleases. SS is probably the most fun, wild, violent, funny, and entertaining movie in a long while. JG's best movie yet.

Now my question is, does this drop on HBO Max on Day 1? (8/6)

Surprise surprise, CDC updates guidance on wearing mask.

It turns out that the Ill advised mandate that vaccinated people can do everything without a mask was just a carrot on a stick to get people to vaccinate, completely ignoring the fact that vaccinated people can too can still get, carry, and transmit the virus to others, and are in fact catching, carrying, and transmitting the virus to others, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, all because they thought they were safe from the virus now that they were vaccinated.

🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

So everyone, vaccinated or not, please wear your mask in public places where you are neither actively drinking or eating. And also in crowded spaces, even if in private residences with publicly social people.

This should've been the guidance going forward, but they really needed to bait everyone into getting vaccinated with the perk of "no mask needed".

Why must the gov be so inept?
Politics getting in the way of common sense.
10's-100's of thousands of deaths that could've been prevented if the people in charge weren't more worried about getting votes in the next election cycle instead of actually serving the public interest they were elected for.

Fear Street Vol 1 & Vol 2

Both really fun teen slasher movie from the creator of Goosebumps (iirc), now airing on Netflix.
Vol 3 airs next Friday, and I look forward to seeing how this concludes. A lot more violent that I thought it was gonna be, and some unexpected adult scenes in Vol. 2

I'm not trying to spoil anything, but if you're looking for some new horror to watch, this 3 week Trilogy from Netflix so far has been a really good and fun watch.

I forgot to follow up on this, but Vol. 3 was a solid ending to the Fear Street Trilogy, which as you probably guessed, is looking for more sequels/spin-offs.

Last report I saw stated that they were hoping to make an "MCU" of Horror Movies based on the Feat Street books. I don't know how they plan on doing that unless they gonna be releasing movies at a much faster pace, but what I've watched from the series so far was a solid start for a horror franchise. I look forward to seeing what comes from the book next.

The Tomorrow War - I'm only half way through that movie but the time travel rules make no sense to me. If they can only jump so far into the future, and that "time only flows in one direction like a river" and they need to build two time beacons to facilitate jumping back and forth, then how did they do that? How did they go back in time to start with?

I only watched the movie once, but I really don't think they explained that.....
It made sense to only pull people that were already dead at the point of the jump in the future, as to not pull them from the current timeline and risk them not being there in the future they are jumping to, or the off chance of having them run into their future selves causing some sort of paradox.
So in my head, the 2 points of travel things must be that they originally built the machine in the present at some point, but didn't know it's future use as a time machine was actual (theoretical science), yet it still acted as a beacon, allowing the fully completed machine in the future to ping that signal and travel back. Traveling back allowed them to upgrade the machine and allow it to ping the moving point of time in the future to jump back and forth.

but it shouldn't necessarily be up to the viewer to explain the theoretical science of a movie to themselves.

You said MJ and I thought of Michael Jackson instead.  I suppose I might think of Mary Jane too. Context.

The context was Space Jam

Black Widow

It was good. I've seen people say this would've been better if released between Infinity War and Endgame.  I agree with that sentiment, but the post-credits scene would've been a spoiler, and I'm not sure where else you put that scene.  The supporting cast is great, and I hope they all make a return.

I saw it today, and it was my first movie back in a theatre.  It was a good enough choice.  The movie has a lot of action, but it feels a little "tropey" I think.  It doesn't do much for the MCU cannon but put in some new faces, so that's nice.

7/10

I just came in to post about this. Finished it this morning.
Good action, and I to was thinking that I had revise an earlier statement, because the post credit scene messes up the expected viewing order.

The movie still should've came out sooner, but that post credit scene would need to be placed somewhere else post Endgame.
Honestly, I kinda wondering what the post credit scene would've been had this movie come out during it's place in the timeline. 🤔

Also the show ending without a resolution to that series was allegedly a last minute tweak that was not in the original plan.

I don't know how that changed the final episode of the season, but the show runner/director that isn't coming back for season 2 briefly mentioned it. No idea if that has any relation to why she is not returning. She just started that it wasn't part of the original plan.

So Giannis got his ring. Stepped up BIG TIME.
Cleaned up that free throw issue, and pulled some extra moves out the bag to secure the ring.

Finals MVP indeed.
Congrats!!!!

I'm watfching Gunpoweder Milkshake right now....

I love a good bad movie, and after Space Jam 2... I figure, what do I have to lose.
There's gotta be something enjoyable in this... I'll just have to see for myself.

Ok, so I only made it about 35 minutes in to this movie so far, but that first fight scene in the bowling alley was pretty bad for most of it. Not sure if I'll pick it up again, but wouldn't be bad for some background noise while multitasking on something else.

Even though I enjoyed Loki and look forward to a 2nd season, for some reason it never really drew me in.
The door it left open in the end is interesting, and I look forward to seeing how that shapes the entry of all of everything recently acquired into the new MCU timeline, starting with Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Alligator Loki and Throg being present were nice little things that I hope come back at some point (there was a deleted scene for Throg vs Loki when Loki was watching his life of losses reel <Loki lost to the frog>)

Having said that though.... I still haven't seen Black Widow.... and i'm usually an MCU opening weekend type, and have the ability to watch it from home. Not really sure what I'm waiting for, but event though I haven't seen it, it still seems like a movie that should've came out mid phase 3.
AM I trippin? should I watch it already and stop holding out for some lost motivation?

Space Jam 2 - LOL/So Bad

First of all, this movie is absolutely TERRIBLE in almost everyway.
Do yourself a favor and come in to this movie with the mindset to laugh AT the movie and not WITH the movie. That is likely to be the only way to find enjoyment throughout this movie.
Lebron is very uncharismatic as an actor, delivers his lines very stiff.
The first 10 minutes of the movie is literally a "King James Biopic SIZZLE REEL!!!" and we almost shut it off after 20 minutes in, but we pressed on and after that mindset change, found some enjoyment in how terrible this movie was.
There are literally 1000 cameos/references, and honestly maybe even a few good/funny lines, but nothing in this movie is really worth the watch. I wouldn't say avoid at all cost, but certainly don't pay for it.

oh and this

I'm still holding out hope for it being Bob Iger and Deadpool at the end.

And Stan Lee.... Long con ultimate surprise payoff.

Latest episode was pretty funny. I think there's only 6 eps right?

Biggest Easter egg I can recall was the Thanos Copter, but there were certainly others in not recalling.
The war of the Loki's was pretty funny too.
Not Our Hiddleston Loki vs GatorLoki, and NOHLoki losing his hand just before the fighting started, and them all betraying each other. Good stuff.

So what's the over/under on Sylvie going back in time, pulling Loki back before he was "deleted" and then Loki saving Mobius....

hold up... I was in the middle of typing the above and then the mid Credit scene played...
nevermind. Carry on.

were there mid/post credits on any previous episodes? I don't remember see any.

20
So, Giannis has no structural damage from his hyper extension, but no telling if he plays tomorrow
Trae Young might still be out with an ankle sprain from stepping on the refs foot....

East coming down to "Survival of the Fittest" and who can recover fastest.

Suns the only team to not have a major player injured?

And it looks like The Abomination makes an appearance towards the end?

Holy ****, that ending! No goaltending on an inbound pass. This fourth quarter was so good.

Paul George is about to get wrecked on social media.

The social media slander has been my favorite part of the playoffs. Top-quality tweets abound.

Please post some of your favorites.

23
that was a great ending that that game.
that lob at the end was absolutely highlight material.

I feel this series is over if CP3 comes back next game in LA.

No Chick-fil-a on your list BnM? Or are they in an entirely different camp?

I like their chicken but the typical lines keep me away, and I tend to get hankerins for Chicken sandwiches (and teriyaki) on Sundays when they are closed so I don't go very often.

I mentioned Chick FilA, they are building one next to me and I'll try it once it opens. The next nearest one to me is too far away and line too long to even entertain it unless I was randomly passing by and the line was short.
