E3 2011: The Homecast
« on: June 08, 2011, 08:04:37 AM »

Neal and Nathan are at E3 and Andy couldn't make it, so Zach's joined by two RFN alums to dish the dirt on Nintendo's press conference.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newscast/26670

With the announcement of the Wii U and plenty of other announcements at Nintendo's press conference yesterday, Neal asked RFN alums Karl Castaneda and Mike Sklens to jump on the ol' Newscast to keep Zach Miller company.

I enjoyed this podcast.  I think you guys did well together for the most part.  I wouldn't mind hearing another one.  Other thoughts.

I wasn't psyched for the game [Kid Icarus] till that E3 Trailer.  Now I want to get Kid Icarus.

when has Nintendo ever made a game like Uncharted or Killzone or Gears?  Never, and they never will.  You say everyone wants the return of the SNES but that will never happen because you aren't 12 years old anymore when you originally played the SNES.

And let's put a moratorium on talking about how much the name sucks.  We get it, people don't like it but it didnt do any good when they named the Wii so its not going to do any good now.  Let's be honest, how many good console names are there?  Not many.  Lets just call it the U and then you can continue to bitch about all the other things you are unsatisfied with.

Good to have you back, Zach!

And come on, Other M was an enjoyable game. It's a far cry from Shakespeare, but I found it entertaining and quite fun.

I was personally hoping for the Swii.  It would be Swiit. :-X

I think that what nintendo should do for 3ds is maybe even this week is evey e3 when they have new 3ds titles the demos from e3 should be released on the eshop so, that, people who who didn't attend e3 can still play the game. I know that reggie said that demos would be released earlier this year but, nintendo should do a e3 eshop special so that ordinary people can play mariokart3d, super mario 3d, and luigi's mansion 3d on their own 3ds. If anyone agrees with me please respond. If anyone is attending round table please ask nintendo this question.

We hardcore gamers were excited about the Wii when that was announced as it seemed that would bring a whole load of new game ideas. Instead Nintendo retreated to old ideas quickly while third parties kept making a zombie-line towards Wii Sports clones. It's only the brocore gamers that complained about the lack of HD graphics instead. Now Nintendo has long abandoned the blue ocean crowd and is trying to move towards the brocore market, leaving all that innovation that could have been behind.

Apparently wanting games to not look awful on your television means you're brocore.

You're also brocore if you want third party games to look similar to what they look like on competing systems.

When Brocore gets HD and platform parity, their response is "You don't get a thanks just doing your JOB, Nintendo. Now bring me a beer."

What I expected from third parties was good original games, the fact that we're yearning for the games on the HD systems just shows how terrible the third party performance has been on the Wii.

I started listening to the episode, but didn't finish it. I don't care to hear this particular crew ever again. Plus, none of them was at E3, so what's the point? I can provide better impressions than these guys.
