The fact that Mario Kart 8 has sold more on Switch than on Wii U is insane to me. It even came with a free game on Wii U!

It was released early in the Switch's lifespan when there wasn't much else out there. Also you have to remember Switch is getting close to 1.5 times the Wii U's lifetime sales.

At the end of the day it's still a full priced port. I'd be interested in the breakdown of what percentage of people already own the game on Wii U.

Geez rhey only moved 2 million Switches worldwide this Summer? That sounds really low if they want to meet 20 million shipped the whole fiscal year to me... Exactly how much are they stockpiling for the Holidays? Makes me wonder if they'll do crazy Holiday deals / sales to really take advantage of hyping up a Holiday sales period if they have a lot of inventory...

I enjoy Labo a lot, but I feel that's a little on the low sjde given that's both kits combined and it's shipped, making you wonder if there's still a lot of inventory on shelves. With three Toycon kits out this holiday season we'll see just how Labo does with more of its target younger gamers coming into play come December.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

They said there was momentum coming out of E3, and the releases in the quarter were Labo, a couple of (impressive) remakes and Sushi Striker. I think Fortnite and Mario Tennis did provide a nice bridge out of the quarter, though.

Goes to show how important a decent Battle Mode is to the success of the series.

The holiday season is always insane for Nintendo.  With Pokmon and Smash Bros the system is almost guaranteed a better holiday this year which would easily put the system around 10 million plus worldwide from the Q3, Oct - Dec.

People have to remember Mario Kart Wii sold over 35 million copies.  This is a franchise that really exploded during that gen and raised the ceiling for its audience by exposing it to millions that had never played a Mario Kart before.  The 3DS game also sold over 17 million copies, showing that even without the larger audience the Wii had that the audience for Mario Kart was expanded greatly since the best selling Mario Kart before DS and Wii was 64 which did over 10 million.

So even if everyone who bought the Wii U version isn't buying Deluxe because it's an enhanced port, the Mario Kart fanbase is still large enough to give it the sales it's receiving on Switch since the majority of it's fanbase never bought a Wii U so it's a new game to them.
