I'd just like to say I'm very upset that SaWaRu Made in Wario got voted best import because it sucks so much compared to MaWaRu Made in Wario. I'm dissapointed in all of you that voted for either of them without playing them, and picked on hype.

I'm very glad the Takahashi brothers got awarded, as Camelot is very, very awesome...Other than that I will probably say that Paper Mario 2 is still my favorite game of 2004...

Cool.  I just had no idea that Zero Mission came out this year.  I could've sworn I've had it for longer than that.

A few comments....

- Looks like I seriously need to consider buying Astro Boy. I never even heard of the game until all these year end awards gave it praise.

- The only game I imported was Naruto 3, and IMO it was pretty good....at least deserving of consideration (I can't tell if it was or wasn't).

- Somehow, it just doesn't feel right not seeing RE4 sweep the categories.  Yea yea I know, not an 04 game...but almost....

- Great quote on Ty.

I used to come to PGC almost daily a couple of years ago and back then I thought the Loui awards were great.

Perhaps its just me, or perhaps its because we are in the console-dulldrums with slow news but PGC seems to be far less interesting these days.

Perhaps its that the writers have lives. I dunno. I miss more exciting news and great editorials and reviews.

Hmmm.
i alone sell more GC consoles than Nintendo Australia.

I do kind of wish Feel the Magic would have got a nod somewhere.  It is kind of a simplistic game, but still the most 'original' fun to be had on the DS.  =)  I like the Namco praise you threw in there as well.   =)

I think we need to give the staff a break.  First there is mass complaining about no content.  Then when they listen and provide content, we complain.

The Louie Awards obviously took quite a bit of time and consideration to put together.  Show a little respect for that.

Someone needs to make a nifty "Free NOA" t-shirt design and get the movement going.

"Free NOA"?  How is PGC going to free NOA?  I was under the impression that PGC's goals should at least (a) apply to PGC, not Nintendo and (b) be somewhat realistic.  Oh well.

And I'm curious as to how Namco Tales Studio can win developer of the year when they only released one game for a Nintendo system this year, and it didn't win any awards.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

word.

I hate how we europeans never get the less-known good games. No Astro Boy, no Katamari Damacy, etc. Why does the game-publishing world hate us? Or think we only have shallow tastes that don't go beyond FIFA?

"Perhaps its that the writers have lives. I dunno. I miss more exciting news and great editorials and reviews"

Well, back in 2001 and 2002 I was responsible for a lot of editorials.  I resigned I think in early 2003 as I had just graduated and was looking for a job.  Well I ended up in graduate school and now that things have stablized a bit, I've come back to PGC almost exclusively for the purpose of writing editorials again.  Maybe you'll see a few more than usual in the coming months.  I'm currently looking for a topic.  Perhaps another technology oriented editorial is in order.  In The next two years we're going to see a lot of new technology, and with the DS and PSP newly released, there is new technology around to analyze already.  Although I think we're all more interested in what the next-gen consoles will be capable of.

Astro Boy is very fun.  Think of it as a Viewtiful Joe for GBA.  Lots of enemies, big and small.  Although I have experienced some slowdown in the game, otherwise its awesome.

One more thing I forgot to mention since I was rushing out of the house; Looking at the biggest disappointments, in hindsight if THOSE were the biggest disappointments of the year, then the collective forum did much complaining over small issues IMO. While the DS had a weak lineup, so far it hasn't (yet?) hurt its hardware sales or perception in the public eye. Both VJ and VJ2 sold like crap on the PS2, and with RE4 coming out nearly a year after the GC version I'd expect lackluster sales for that too. When the rest of the A-list DS games come out both points will be pretty trivial.

My biggest disappointment (or suprise more fittingly, right behind E3 Zelda) would have been Silicon Knights leaving. Was a big blow to the Nintendo community see Dyack and his team go.

The trouble with that Silicon Knights news is that we really don't know what happened or what it means yet.  The rumors pretty much point to every likely possibility so I'll wait until Denis opens his mouth again.
