Discuss in talkback!

Unlike Skylanders, you can't swap out this week's releases.

What do you get when you cross video game sequels based on a reality show and Activion's cash cow? You get This Week in Releases! Skylanders is the big one this week, and of course it is on multiple platforms, each sold separately.

Wii U

Skylanders: Swap Force Starter Pack - $74.99, October 13

When I think of huge gaming franchises the first thing that comes to mind is Activison. Not only do they own Call of Duty, but they are also responsible for Skylanders. This year's installment requires a new portal of power which allows you to swap pieces of Skylanders out to make new character combinations. I would be interested in this game if it featured characters I know and love, maybe Disney characters. Sadly nothing like that exists.

Wipeout Create & Crash - $39.99, October 15

If you know me you know I'm a huge fan of the TV series Wipeout with its uh.. wipes and outs. Okay, so I don't watch this show, but if you like competing in physical competitions without moving a muscle then you just might love this Wii U release.

Wii

Skylanders: Swap Force Starter Pack - $74.99, October 13

The Wii is not being left out this week. You can also play Skylanders on the old box o'fun. Just like other Wii multiplatform games, it will be less sharp looking, and obviously does not use a GamePad.

Wipeout Create & Crash, October 15

All the fun of Wipeout, all the power of the Wii, all the excitement of a guy writing about it. Not much else to say that has not already been said.

3DS

Skylanders: Swap Force Starter Pack - $74.99, October 13

If you haven't had your fill of Skylanders, you can also play Swapforce on the go. The 3DS entry has 3D, unless you play it on the 2DS.

Wipeout Create & Crash, October 15

Wipeout on the 3DS is upon us. Hide your children because you can not escape this game.
