And so I am still pissed about never getting Super Mario Bros. 3 on All stars or game boy advance. ..But maybe it'l end up different.

EnnerDecember 14, 2011

Woohoo! Look at all those high scores.

MataataDecember 14, 2011

That is one damn fine line up. Although I have about half of those, I'm still really happy about the games they chose.
Still, SMB3 would have been nice, but I'm not going to complain.

StrikerObiMike Sklens, Podcast EditorDecember 14, 2011

Reading my old reviews of Mario Kart and WarioWare is tripping me out.

I wonder why Mario VS Donkey Kong didn't get a 7.5 from Dr. Metts.

I wish there was some way to import save data from the GBA carts.

Fatty The HuttDecember 14, 2011

Dr Metts is a hard marker! Glad I never had him as a prof  ;)

I haven't played it in a while, but I'm pretty sure Mario vs. Donkey Kong deserves a higher score than Sunglasses/10.

Chocobo_RiderDecember 14, 2011

That's a tasty line-up.  Nice to see someone taking care of early adopters for once.

Wow, 1 out of 5 (F-Zero, which I notice is missing its screenshot).

Kinda mad at losing the FE/Advance Wars and Kirby coinflips but hey, sounds like we get the better deal anyway.

Here's my take on all 10 games based on memory!

Mario Kart - It's Mario Kart.

Wario Land 4 - Never played it! Super excited to do so. Jeremy Parish recently called this the best portable Mario ever.

Yoshi's Island - Been a while, but I recall loving this game.

Metroid Fusion - I've played through this game a good two dozen times. A more linear Metroid, yes, but also one of the best paced games ever. Not a second of filler. Can't wait to start playthrough #25.

Wario Ware - YES. I haven't played this in years and it feels like I've forgotten most of the mini games. Can't wait to reacquaint myself with them.

Mario vs Donkey Kong - This reminds me I still haven't beaten DK 94.

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror - Never played it! RFN champions it though.

Minish Cap - If you find that Skyward Sword has too much padding, Minish Cap is the perfect antidote. Not a very big Zelda game, but a very dense one. There are so many more ideas and so much more gameplay variety in this than there is in the comparatively empty DS Zelda games. Also the story isn't total dog poop. Great game.

Fire Emblem - Never played ANY Fire Emblem game.

I must have been really tolerant back in the year 2000. I was playing this game during the GC launch with Yoshi and I remembered it being fun despite having him hand my ass out like a plate of cold cuts.

F-zero is a bad game. I remember it playing a lot better, but now, its just horrendous. All the vehicles drive like they are on ice. They either can't turn or slide so much you can almost point backwards with the metal to the peddle even on the widest turns. The view distance is way too short. Feathering the throttle is only mildly effective since the engine takes forever to produce any acceleration and on turns it more than likely increases the speed of travel rather than help change your direction regardless of which way your pointing. More often than not, you have to crawl around corners while the AI gleefully ignore the game's physics. Also fuck those taxis and the guy who thought throwing random obstacles that want you dead makes for a good racing game.

This game has not aged well at all. It's a good thing they don't make F-zero in 2D anymore.

Mario VS DK has been pleasant so far, but looking a bit on the short side.

The only complaint besides F-zero is that the line up has too many platformers, but never the less, quality games.

There's no such thing as too many platformers.

Mop it upDecember 15, 2011

I'd say there are only 2 stinkers here, unlike with the NES games where about 7 of them sucked.

Mario vs Donkey Kong: Own it, but it's a decent puzzle/platformer.
Metroid Fusion: Own it, but it's a good game for what it is.
Wario Land 4: I'm surprised I don't own this already, because the first three Wario Land games are great. Looking forward to this one.
WarioWare: Could be decent, but owning two other WarioWare games, it's probably redundant for me.
Super Mario Advance 3: I have Yoshi's Island on the SNES, but I hear this one has a few new levels so it may still have some value.
Zelda: The Minish Cap: One of the few Zelda games I have yet to play.
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones: Never tried a Fire Emblem game, so this'll be a nice opportunity.
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror: Kirby games are always fun.

And the two that I won't like...
Mario Kart Super Circuit: Own it. Absolutely the worst Mario Kart game by far. No fun.
F-Zero Maximum Velocity: F-Zero on SNES was pretty boring, and this looks similar.
