Naturally, I didn't have a camera, but EasyCure from our lovely forums did, so special thanks to him for the pictures of the museum.

Also, for anyone curious about the tournament, I had no idea what in the hell was going on. I think something went on, but I'm not quite sure what or how. It was pretty chaotic, even more so with the rain.

The museum had a lot of odd and cool relics from Mario's history, including the following:

Check out this awesome sweater that seems to have a tie to Mario Kart.

This work of art shows a lot of Mario's history, ranging from Wart to Dr. Mario to the Koopa Kids.

I missed the level in Super Mario Bros. 2 where you drove a car.

Rain would've known to stay the hell away from this poncho. At least I think it is a poncho.

This water-logged area didn't get much love during the event.

From the era where Mario characters didn't have defined visages. Look at weird gray Bowser.

I'm in this picture. Guess who I am.

I would've killed for this totally rad comforter as a kid.

Likewise with this lunch box.

There was a time where "Mario Bubble Bath" was a product. That must've been a fun time.

This might've been the reason why the Frog Suit hasn't returned.

The days of Nintendo-owned Nintendo Power featured such awesomeness as this.

For serious, when did Mario drive a car in Super Mario Bros. 2?!?

Check out other images here.

Once again, thanks to EasyCure from the NWR Forums.

I'll say it again. Thanks EasyCure!

Hey Easycure, does Neal say "Totally Rad" in real life?

As far I know, I've never uttered the phrase in mixed company. I feel that it is a fine term for any of these pieces of '80s paraphernalia, though.

BlackNMild2k1November 15, 2009

it fits fine in context, I was just trying to give you a hard time :D

It's alright, I just get intimidated by Mr. E.T.

Thanks EasyCure!  Those are some great pics.

These pictures are indeed awesome.

BeautifulShyNovember 15, 2009

I had quiet a few of those Mario products back in the day.

Is there any pics of Fleece and EasyCure?

No problemo! All i ask is you make my title "un-official NWR NON-Staff Photagrapher" ;)

Nah you don't have to, cuz the next time an event happens and I can't make it i'll get flack for not doing my "job" :P

As did I maxi. I never had the comforter but i had a bed sheet with the exact same design as the comforter pictures above, even the pillow case! Whats odd is that one side of the pillow case is mario bros, the other side is LoZ. I loved em so much that when I was younger My mom actually turned them in to two seperate pillow cases (when the second pair got ruined :( Thanks mom!) I'll have to post a picture one of these days. Oh, and while i didnt have the lunchbox Neal chose to post, there was a second picture I took of a second design and that one I did have. The hinges broke back in the first grade so I junked it. Wish i didn't though... Oh and my brother used to have that issue of NP too but he trashed his collection a LONG time ago. le sigh. Man i used to have so much cool shit.. did anyone else have the Scholastic Zelda books!?

Oh wait, getting back on topic:

There is ONE picture of TheFleece and I but i'm not posting it because honestly, its a really bad shot (of me). I'll be sending Fleece a picture I took of him and his girlfriend, from there he's free to post it if he likes. If it wasn't for the rain we woulda hung out more but what happened was we met while he was leaving the event. They took heed of my advice and looked for me based on my girlfriends description (seriously, not too many girls with rainbow-sherbert colored hair at the event), and whispered "Easycure..?" as they walked by. We spoke for maybe 5 minutes and had time to snap 3 photos just for fun.

Never did get to meet Neal here but if he's telling the truth about one of the pictures posted above then.. well.. It gives me an excuse for pissing my pants in laughter just now. Did I really take a picture of you in the crowd without even knowing!? HAHAHA Small world.

TheFleeceNovember 15, 2009

If it weren't for the weather and the conditions of the event I would have gone. The pictures look real cool, but too bad they didn't set up inside the store. I had one of the Mario Bros. lunch boxes, I don't know what happened to it though. The deal with the tournament was early on they asked people on the line if they wanted to enter and they'd get a wrist band. This was also at the same time they began handing out tickets to ensure yourself a copy of the game. I didn't enter because I didn't know how long that would all take and I did know if it would cause me to miss out on any free stuff. At the end though I'm glad because when I left it was pouring. It would have been cool to kick it with EasyCure and his girl, maybe play some four player Mario Bros. I hope the next event is drier!

Crazy.. Wonder if you saw me or my girlfriend.

Yeah I had the Zelda books EasyCure. There was some at a book fair at school. I had the lunch boxes, shampoo and Mario bedding  and also that poster in the second image. That poster was in NP a few years back.

I'd think that they would do a Spirit Tracks event, but it wouldn't be as ambitious as this one.

Maybe they'll set up a small train we can all ride outside!

But probably not...

Maybe they'll have Link walking around the store (again)!

but probably not (since the last Link was Twilight Princess styled and i've yet to see a toon link model)

I have that comforter and the matching pillow cases!

""

Cool!

EasyCureNovember 18, 2009

I know that g but can't remember his name, Ray maybe?

I'm still thinking of posting the pic, I'm not sure yet.. you could always post the one I took of you and your girl and photoshop peaches face onto hers! To protect her privacy of course

If I did that she would kill me and then warp me to a land of single players. Also I think this picture gets the best side of my 'stache

I didn't comment in person, but that is a damn fine 'stache, sir.

EasyCureNovember 18, 2009

Damn fine.

TheFleeceNovember 18, 2009

Thanks, gents! I was alerted a few months ago that I come up in Google image searches and other funny things because of it.

EasyCureNovember 18, 2009

That's freaking epic! My name doesn't yield anything related to me, but I like it that way...

I was just about to make that comparison; he does look like Tim Meadows (circa mid-90s).

EasyCureNovember 19, 2009

hahahah he does! If we ever meet up face to face I'm just gonna have to talk like Leon Phelps the Ladies Man until he begs me to stop or punches me in the face.

ps that movie was horrible but it did have one great line:

"Mr Phelps i see here under hobbies you listed 'dabutt'?"

"Oh, no, thats "da butt", Yeah"

ok ok, the whole scene interviewing the nun was pretty funny too

Oh wow I've never gotten that one but then again comparisons of the past have been based on me without any hair. I'll add Tim Meadows to the list Hahaha

EasyCureNovember 19, 2009

from now on please say "you dont want no part of this shit!" dramaticaly

please

StratosNovember 20, 2009

That is the sweetest 'stache I have ever seen. Amazing.
