Colin decides on a GBA game and Max gets to play it! The boys head home and pledge to bring the GBA noise!
Colin & I continued to shuffle around the store. Colin didn't seem interested in any of the other titles but looked at GTA and Kuru Kuru. I told him everything I had heard about Kuru Kuru was positive-right up his alley. He was skeptical. I offered to throw in on Castlevania but to no avail.
Two employees start talking about what the audio GBA's audio will be like. We join the conversation for a bit, with Colin discussing FirePro and Mario Advance
A younger customer comes up to the counter.
"Hey! You got GBAs in! How is FirePro?"
The employee points at Colin.
"That guy said it was pretty sweet. Just like the Dreamcast version."
"Cooooooool!"
I'm doing more browsing. Hey! Old N64 games! War Gods? Hahahahaha! KABUKI JOE!
Then I see Colin by the GBA counter again. I mosey back over.
"Ah, what the heck I'm getting Kuru Kuru Kuru."
I smile.
"Cool man."
Colin cashes out as I overhear another conversation, two employees talking about GBA and how excited they are about Tony Hawk and Metroid and such. As we then walk out, we hear yet another customer being told about the joys of GBA.
I hop in the car and get nuts with Kuru Kuru. It is simple but addictive. I love it. I also slip in some more Mario Advance & FirePro time before it's time for me to head for home. I know I'll be back soon, with my own GBA and link cable in tow. I am hooked!
Game Boy Advance hype is huge and rightfully so. The system is fun, sleek and capable of some great stuff. It's no wonder the system is selling out everywhere and our readers are DEMANDING more coverage from us.
Well, it's coming and we plan to get nuts.
I don't know if I've mentioned it before but the reason PGC dedicates itself to covering Game Boy Advance along with its Nintendo GameCube coverage is because in a very real way, GBA is a part of GameCube.
Plus, heck, it's given us something to do until NGC shows up.
In case you were wondering, Planetgameboyadvance.com isn't us. GameSpy dropped the cash on that one and are supposedly ("COMING SOON!). Although we have discussed the possibility of a GBA site, it's not us. We didn't really want it either; we're quite happy with the URL we have.
Anyway, I've got impressions to write! Import a GBA if you can, or start saving for June! It's going to blow you away!
Props to m'man Colin Taibi for the invite!
