Generations of Game Boys

by the NWR Staff - March 26, 2001, 12:59 pm EST

Max visits Colin for some Game Boy Advance action. The two visit a game store & encounter generations of gamers united by Game Boy and the hype for the newest model of the handheld gaming champ. A GBA Launch Special!

Whew! What a weekend!

I've already written up most of my GBA impressions previously and now am transcribing my notes and getting down my impressions. Yes, I was lucky enough to spend the weekend with GBA. No, I don't own one-too poor to own one. But thanks to my longtime partner-in-Chaos Colin Taibi, I got to wrap my hands around Nintendo's newest handheld sensation for a few short (but sweet) hours.

I've been anxious to share my thoughts about it too. Colin lives a few hours away from me & visiting him took the entire weekend. However, I'm always happy to see that crazy bastard (and usually take my time leaving his company). Thanks to him, we've got some great GBA coverage en route. After importing his system, he invited me up to come visit and generate material for the Planet. I did just that.

Upon getting home, Billy called me immediately to catch me up on what's been up with the site-and ask me what I thought of the GBA.

I gushed, albeit briefly so I could concentrate on my articles. My excitement certainly matches his own.

"Isn't it a GREAT TOY?!?" emitted Billy during a laugh session that would put Shiggy to shame.

"Absolutely. I must have one. The system is amazing! Kuru Kuru RULES!" I exclaimed.

"I'm so glad you said that!" Billy responded, then quickly added:

"I've gotten 15 emails today saying 'stop playing your GBAs and update the site already!"

OK, OK sorry. But can you really blame us? Besides, don't we deserve a little bit of time to play with Nintendo's miraculous new system? If you want us to do impressions, reviews and codes we do! So hey, hang in there! (Though I suspect I'll soon have to employ crowbars to pry staffers away from their GBAs!)

Seriously, we have all kinds of GBA madness in store for you folks. Colin does too, as does Ed Shih & Justin Wood and Billy and Desmond and… Hey! Didn't Mike Sklens and Rick Powers just import Game Boys too?

Obviously. Colin & I aren't the only ones brewing more GBA goodies -a handful of other PGC staff have all been submitting to the power of GBA. We'll all have content documenting our thoughts coming soon-good and bad.

I'll say this now: there's a lot of good. Real good.
