Come play Resident Evil: Revelations' Raid Mode with the Nintendo World Report Community.

Nintendo World Report is holding a Community Wi-Fi Night for the Raid Mode of Resident Evil: Revelations this Saturday, February 25. The main event kicks off at 7 p.m. Eastern, which is 4 p.m. Pacific and Midnight GMT.

Post your 3DS friend code here and add other NWR readers, making sure to notify them via personal message that you've added them so they can be sure to do so in return. You can also post your code in this thread in the forums, and add people for this and other 3DS multiplayer games.

Thank you for also listing the time in GMT/UTC. It makes it so much easier to convert the time for people outside of the US.

Edit: UCT ≠ UTC

I'll do my best to show up, but 6pm local time on a Saturday evening is normally family time and not gaming time...  Might be a couple of hours late getting online.

Do we just trade codes and then show up online for semi-random matchups?
Or will there be some added detail posted in this thread (or IRC, or whatever)?

My friend code is 0001-3482-5503.  I'll check back here before the event and add anyone who posts their code (assuming I haven't added you already).

Yeah, people have mentioned that in the past so I put that in there.

We'll probably coordinate things in the IRC chat, so people should add each other ahead of time and we'll figure out who's playing with who as we go.

My code is 3351-4054-7089. ANYONE and EVERYONE is welcomed to add my code. I'll check back for more codes tomorrow. I'm also gonna add some who are here already later tonight, (if you don't want me to just send me a personal message through here and I won't).

My code is 0860-3274-2210. I'll be at a very low level (I actually haven't had the time to unlock Raid Mode yet, which I intend to do tonight), so if you haven't gotten that far into Raid Mode don't hesitate to join in because you're still farther along than I am.

I'll probably jump on at 5 o'clock Zacklaska time. I have to go to my friend's house, a quarter-mile away, to use HIS router to play online games because my router blows. But I'm really looking forward to it!

oohhboyHong Hang Ho, Staff AlumnusFebruary 24, 2012

So have you tried to place your 3DS in DMZ yet or is it that your 3DS can't connect to the router at all?

I won't even go into the menagerie of fixes I tried with friends and Nintendo's support rep. I have sunk HOURS into trying to get the stupid thing to work. And yes, we've tried DMZ.

The problem is this: I can get online, I can get to the eShop, I can download eShop games, I can go into game lobbies (like RE or MK7 or DoA). But the second I press A to CONNET to a game, it times out, gives me an error code, and spits me back to the main menu. NOTHING has helped fix this issue. I need a new router.

Nooooo!! Why must these events always be on nights when I have plans! argh! =P

ah well, in the words of the great Luigi: "nexa time"

In case people don't always check, we usually put up a thread in the Handheld Discussion section of the forums (for 3DS events; Wii events would naturally be in Console Discussion) a week or two ahead of time for discussion of what day and time works for people. Anyone reading this should take that as encouragement to explore the rest of our forums beyond TalkBack and Podcast Discussion, as we've got a pretty great community here, if I do say so myself.

Short story on Zach's router: it comes with an overzealous firewall that apparently can't be disabled.

oohhboyHong Hang Ho, Staff AlumnusFebruary 25, 2012

Overzealous seems to be an understatement, "openly belligerent" appears to be more appropriate if it won't even obey the DMZ setting.

I don't suppose there is a last resort solution with custom firmware?

leahsdadFebruary 25, 2012

I know this is perfect for most people, but the time is not great for me.  Darn my kid's birthday dinner!

I'll check when the kids are asleep anyway...which will be 1 AM eastern.

My FC is: 5284-1409-2017

I already entered the FCs of everyone above me, and I'll do the same for everyone else who posts theirs here (assuming we don't get hit by 1000 different people).  I hope to see you all out there!

BTW, yes, I am the legendary sensei of the Cobra Kai dojo.  Yes, I get all kinds of trim.  And no, you can't share it with me.  MERCY IS FOR THE WEAK!

We've got people gathering in the IRC chat, which I've added to this article. If you want to play, we've got people ready to go.

SeacorFebruary 26, 2012

That was fun.  It was just Oohhboy (plus lvl 50 weapons of mass destruction) and myself and we played through Raid Mode for about 3-4 hours.  Caterkiller showed up for a bit, but had not unlocked raid mode yet. Insanolord and Neal showed up to chat with us in IRC.

I would have played, but I haven't unlocked Raid Mode yet. I wish we'd gotten a better turnout, but I'm glad the two of you who took part had fun.

We'll probably be doing a Mario Kart event in a couple weeks, and then another Resident Evil one later in the month. If anyone has any suggestions for how we should do these in the future, whether you've participated in one or not, I've created a stickied thread in Handheld Discussion for discussion of all future NWR Wi-Fi Meetup Events.

AdrockFebruary 26, 2012

I played some Raid mode today. I actually had more fun with it than the campaign. I'll take part in the next Wi-Fi night.

oohhboyHong Hang Ho, Staff AlumnusFebruary 26, 2012

Caterkiller did turn up, but he forgot to unlock raid mode. Isanolord had a *facepalm* worthy moment when he didn't unlock raid mode while hanging around IRC. Neal turned up, screamed something, then disappeared before reappearing so everybody could discuss how much of a fantastic dry run we had and there was much talk about boobs.

I would highly recommend that even if you don't play or have the game you turn up anyway and shoot the proverbial brezze in IRC. Came for the Zoidbergs, stayed for the chat.

Since this is a two player affair, if anyone wants to have game of this outside of the WIFI events, I am more than happy to have a game or two. Leave a message here or a PM with a time and I will see what I can do.

I played through several levels with Andy, but generally the online isn't great for friend-specific games. There's no "JOIN" option in the Friends list, so it's tough to find your friends when they're free. I had a lot of fun with random people, though: got a lot of Wanted and Infected missions, lots of good drops (though nothing better than my current loadout) and lots of very fun QUICK runs through the final Abyss mission.

My biggest complaint is people who lure you in to the Ghost Ship then drop to Lv. 1 and hit the first medal. What's up with that? I wanted so bad to do a Ghost Ship run, but nobody else did, apparently.

That's why we were trying to get people to meet up in the IRC chat room, so we could coordinate who was playing with who. I think in the future for something as co-op heavy as this we might want to encourage the use of Skype between teammates if people have the capability. Nintendo's getting better at online, but this game illustrates a few of the areas in which they still need improvement.

oohhboyHong Hang Ho, Staff AlumnusFebruary 26, 2012

HAHAHA that hasn't happened to me. Maybe I catch a different group of players since I am in a different location. I end up with a lot of Japanese players who play at least as well as I do, if not better, who go for the final objective and all. We don't fuck around and it's all very High Speed, Low Drag. I guess I am only lucky enough not to get trolled yet.

IRC was an absolute must just to coordinate some very simple things. For random play it works well enough, but real communication is still something Nintendo is found wanting.

I'm kind of surprised Capcom didn't put voice chat in there. I don't think any 3DS games have done it, but a bunch of DS games did, so I'm assuming it's possible.

NemoFebruary 26, 2012

One thing that's annoying is that I'm playing on normal difficulty in the campaign, but I can only play on (the equivalent of) easy in Raid Mode. Raid mode is too easy on easy, IMO. I bet I'll really like doing Raid Mode with other people once I unlock the harder modes (I think, I need to finish the campaign first).

ejamerFebruary 27, 2012

Went online several times for quick raids when I had free time during the evening, but couldn't find any friends to join.  Wasn't near a computer so couldn't check the IRC either... sorry guys!  Hopefully next time will work out better.

Strongly agree that lack of voice chat and the inability to send notification that you are online and/or join requests to friends is all that prevents the Raid Mode from being great.  (Or at least from being a great game to play with friends.)  Playing solo or with randoms is still a ton of fun though.

I'm just about to finish the main game on normal difficulty, which will finally open up the rest of Raid Mode.  Can't wait. Revelations has been a blast to play through except for one mission where you have to hold a room that is being swarmed by wolves and hunters. It felt like I was playing a weak FPS title with poor controls instead of a Resident Evil game.  Raid Mode makes a number of small changes to make this action-heavy approach more acceptable, but the level I'm talking about was just tedious - especially when I died at the very end of the mission and had to restart.  Fuuuuu...
