A deleted article from Forbes may show the Switch's third person looter game firing up.

If a removed Forbes article is true, the Switch may soon be getting part of a renewed Diablo push from Blizzard.

The removed article, preserved on Reddit, indicates that a "Diablo III Eternal Edition" would come to the Switch this fall at a $59.99US MSRP. Originally released in 2012 on PC and 2014 on consoles, the two released expansions Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer would be included, along with Legend of Zelda-themed items such as the Cucco pet (called a Chicken) and a Legend of Ganondorf armor set.

According to the report, the game would support four players both on a single Switch and in a multicart setup (each player having their own system and game). The Nintendo Online Service and cloud saving would also be included.

Having never owned a copy of Diablo 3 (just the free buddy trial that came when friend purchased the game for PC), this would be pretty cool if it pans out. Seeing as how the Titan Quest collection is lacking and that I think the Switch could really use a hack-and-slash-and-loot action RPG, Diablo III would be perfect.

Blizzard themselves leaked this months ago.

I have never played Diablo, but I have played a few similar games. I think I will buy it if/when it releases on Switch.

I've been hoping for a game like this on Switch for a while now. That kind of time sink gear grind seems perfect for the handheld form factor.

I played it on PS4, and it's a good game.  Would definitely recommend seeing if you could find a couple of friends to play with though.  it's a good "hang out online with people and run through some caves" game.

I wonder how well the port will run, too.  It looked good on PS4, but the art design of the game is colorful in a way where I imagine downscaling won't make it look too much worse.

There was a version of it for PS3 and Xbox 360 as well, so I wouldn't be too worried about how it will run on Switch.

I’m intrigued though conflicted. I have too many games backlogged as it stands, two more crowdfunded, and others pre-ordered. I cancelled Dragon Ball FighterZ due to how close it’s releasing to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (perhaps a definitive edition releases down the road to help justify the port-begging I’ve done for this game on this forum). I’m about to cancel The World Ends With You: Final Remix. I don’t think I can rightly preorder Undertale and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore right now.

So yeah, just a lot of games. It’s a good problem to have coming from the Wii U. My friend is a Blizzard/Diablo super-fan so if he gets Diablo III, I may jump in then.

Ah, you're right.  I forgot about those ports.  I just took a peek at some PS3 screenshots as well, and it doesn't look considerably worse than what I remember on PS4.  I'd be more concerned about performance than anything else.  If it's a port that's a stable framerate and no stuttering, absolutely worth playing.

Blizzard has stated that the game will be 60fps in both portable (720p) and  docked (960p) modes.
