A twisted challenge.

The original Blok Drop U was a fun puzzle title. Not a very lengthy title but still a relatively enjoyable game with fun physics and gameplay. This is continued, to an extent, in Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion. While the game retains it’s core gameplay mechanics, new elements are added that make the game a very tough challenge for those who were used to the original. While ultimately there’s not much wrong with Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion, the casual gameplay that made the original an easy time is no longer there, and instead is more for players who are ready to take on a much tougher challenge.

The game is of course a collaboration between Leuvsion, the creators behind Twisted Fusion, and RCMADIAX, developers of Blok Drop U, featuringes the setting of the former and the gameplay of the latter. The goal of the game, much like in the original Blok Drop U, is to use the touch screen to eliminate the blocks seen on the screen while also guiding a small eyeball like character to safety. But there’s a new strategic element: in that there are enemies on the screen that have to be destroyed by making blocks fall in the right manner to squish them. It’s a clever new addition, but at the same time the game instantly becomes super difficult. Not only do you have to hope physics are in your favor as the eyeball character is guided to the floor, now you must make sure all enemies on the screen are eliminated as well. This does bring a challenge to those to who enjoy the masochist type of gameplay games like these provide, but I often found myself frustrated at times.

Blok Drop U had a rather minimalist aesthetic. In Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion, things are different. It borrows Twisted Fusion’s graphic design and, well, I prefer the minimalist look to be honest. Not that the Twisted Fusion graphics look bad, but the minimalist design had a sleeker, more modern look that I don’t think the graphics of Twisted Fusion capture. The music in the game, meanwhile, fits in well and adds ambiance to each level. The more varied soundtrack is a welcome edition as the original Blok Drop U only had one song, and thus was kind of repetitive.

With over 50 levels to unlock, Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion is a game that will keep players busy for a while, not only because of the amount of levels, but the high learning curve as well. Those who were used to the challenging but fun gameplay from Blok Drop U are in for a big surprise when they play it’s sequel - it’ll ask a lot and give little leeway in return. But if you are up for the challenge, Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion will deliver.

Summary

Pros
  • Lots of levels to clear
  • Nice soundtrack
Cons
  • Game can be quite unforgiving in difficulty
  • Graphics aren't that impressive

This is game is very, very hard, but still compelling.

PROTIP: Level 25 have a bug that will not allow you to complete the game. You can skip to other levels, but not unlock the additional worlds. The developer has been posting the Konami-Code style workaround in Miiverse.

Hi! I bought that game and read only now your post. Unfortunately Miiverse is over, so I'm unable to find the workaround you mentioned. Do you remember what the stuff was about?

Thank you in advance!
