Featuring similar gameplay to the first movie's game, Revenge of the Fallen improves on most of it and adds beefier online multiplayer.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the follow-up to the decent game based on the first movie, and is once again being developed by Vicarious Visions. There will once again be two versions of the game, one for the Autobots and the other for the villainous Decepticons.

Players begins as a protoform who has just landed on Earth. Depending on the version of the game you have, you either run into the Autobots or the Decepticons and ally yourself with them. As the game’s levels take you on a journey around the planet, you constantly transscan various vehicles and other devices. In addition to all the levels that are focused on your character, there are also levels that let you can play as signature Transformers such as Bumblebee or Starscream. Aside from the story missions, there are numerous challenge missions as well.

Before each level you can pick different weapons to use, and upgrade your character using Energon. You can also change your character's color in between missions, and replay missions to gain more Energon for upgrades. The upgrade system is impressive, allowing you to boost anything from your character's strength to his weapons.

Veterans of the first game will find this is all sounding rather familiar. According to Activision, this game takes the original's concept and improves on every aspect of it. The level of exploration has been reigned in to make the game more action-packed, and the customization is more refined and robust.

There is also a Wi-Fi multiplayer mode that allows players to fight for their faction online. Specific modes have yet to be revealed, but the online aspect promises to be quite full-featured.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is slated to hit stores around the movie's late June release.

What annoys me is that the first game is on the pyramid now but only the autobots version while all reviews said the decepticon version has a better vehicle selection... I have no attachment to either faction as I only know the transformers as toys we used in whatever groupings we found convenient.

Wasn't the idea of being forced into the role of an established character in some missions when you have your own carefully built up character badly received?
