Kirby Air Ride

by Desmond Gaban - May 13, 2003, 4:58 pm EDT

After tech demo iterations on the N64, Kirby's racing game is finally a reality. Entitled Kirby's Air Ride, Kirby's latest game offers a new and unique approach to the racing genre on GameCube.

By the creators of Super Smash Brothers Melee, Kirby's Air Ride stands out by using the same simple controls that have been the staple of previous Kirby titles. Control centers on using single-button game play: You brake and slide around corners and charge up by pressing the A button, or hold and charge it up as you slide, then release to accelerate.

As his trademark, Kirby can steal the abilities of enemies. Again, this is done with the same button.

Kirby Air Ride offers three distinct modes of play. Air Ride is the default 3D mode while Top Ride is an overhead 2D mode. The City Trial mode is a tournament battle where players race beforehand for power-ups.

There will be various warpstars for Kirby to ride as well as multiple colors of Kirby to choose from.
