Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round Two

by Mike Sklens - June 10, 2001, 9:46 pm EDT

The wacky boxers make their handheld debut on the GameBoy Advance in Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2. Take your favorite brawlahs with you on the go.

Ready 2 Rumble had its humble beginnings on the Dreamcast. Since then, it has grown to be one of the more popular boxing titles. This is mostly because of its outrageous take on the characters. With characters like Afro Thunder, you can't really go wrong. Ready 2 Rumble Round 2 is basically more of the same over the top boxing action. The game has been shrunk down for the Game Boy Advance. It features high resolution graphics and a 3D rotating ring.

Ready 2 Rumble Round 2 features 11 characters. The characters shoot the gambit from the over the top Afro Thunder to the over the top Michael Jackson. Also included in the game are Michael Buffer, who is famous for coining the "Let's get ready to rumble" catch phrase, and Shaq. Don't worry though, Ready 2 Rumble Round 2 is guaranteed to be better than Shaq Fu. Other characters include Lulu Valentine, Johnny "Bad" Blood, Angel "Raging" Rivera, Mama Tua, Robox RESE-4, Jet "Iron" Chin, and Joey T.

The idea of the game is, obviously, to knock your opponent out. But this isn't accomplished by boxing alone. When you score a big hit you are awarded with a letter. Once you spell the word "Rumble" you can unleash the Rumble Flurry, so you can really beat down on your opponent. The game also features other modes, such as a training mode to help new players, and a survival mode, where you take on 11 opponents to see if you really are tough enough to be a Ready 2 Rumble boxer.

Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 is a GBA launch game for North America.
