Pac-Man reprises his classic role on the DS.

Namco offered up two Pac-Man themed Nintendo DS titles for play on the show floor at E3 2004. The first of which was Pac-n-Roll. It’s actually an update of the classic Pac-Man gameplay. This time, Pac-Man is a sphere shape. He rolls around fully 3D mazes eating Pac-dots and running from or chasing ghosts. What makes the title unique is the use of the DS touch screen for control. The bottom screen displays a Pac-Man ball. Players can use a stylus to spin Pac-Man in various directions. Pac-Man can move in any direction and his speed is controlled by how quickly the stylus is moved across the touchpad.

It sounds like a simple idea, and actually it is. But what Pac-n-Roll lacks in depth it makes up for ten fold in fun. The classic Pan-Man formula is totally reborn in 3D. The addition of touch screen controls makes the game fantastically easy to control. The result is a game that is every bit as fun and addictive as the original Pac-Man arcade game.
