New Love Plus

A note on my first Love Plus experience.

I was lucky to play the new installment of the famous Love Plus series at TGS without queuing up. Sadly, only the camera mode (or photo session) was playable. In this mode, one of the three heroines and I were alone together in a room. The upper and lower screens functioned as the view finder of my camera. Interestingly enough, not only the lower screen, but also the upper one was fixed in 2D. According to a PR person, when both screens are used together to show a girl, the upper screen is always in 2D for the purpose of unity. However, it should be noted that according to him, when you review your girlfriend’s photos, they will be shown in 3D.

The photography spans both screens so 3D is off

The gyro sensor was used to change camera angles. For example, when I lifted the system over my head, the camera went at a low angle, looking up at the girl, which embarrassed her. These subtle reactions and good voice acting, vivifying the girl extraordinarily as a game character, seem to be what makes this series exceptional.

She looks a little embarassed

To my disappointment, aside from changing camera angles, there were few ways to interact with her. Since I had never played this series, the experience of taking photos of the first-met girl for its own sake was enough for me to feel immoral and as if I were a kind of pervert, or at best, one of the nerdy guys here at TGS who are always taking photos of PR girls devotedly. I had never felt like this while playing a game, which indicates this game is somehow unique.

Talkback

The line about the guys taking pictures at TGS might be one of the greatest things ever written on this site.
