Metal Slug 6 completes the seven-game set.

SNK Adds Metal Slug 6 to Metal Slug Anthology To Complete Collection

Seven Great Metal Slug Games, One Low Price

Wall, New Jersey Sep 22, 2006 SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION, the US

publishing arm of the SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION, announced today that

they will add the latest game in the series, METAL SLUG 6, to METAL SLUG

ANTHOLOGY for the Wii(tm) and the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY will now feature seven great METAL SLUG titles.

Included in the collection will be METAL SLUG, METAL SLUG 2, METAL SLUG

X, METAL SLUG 3, METAL SLUG 4, METAL SLUG 5, and METAL SLUG 6.

METAL SLUG 6 was released in the arcades earlier this year and expands

the cast of playable characters by two. In addition to the METAL SLUG

regulars – Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Eri Kasamoto, and Fio Germi, METAL

SLUG 6 includes Ralf Jones and Clark Steel of IKARI WARRIORS. The METAL

SLUG 6 storyline returns to the Rebel-Martian alliance featured in Metal

Slugs 2, X, and 3, but now players have to team up with the Rebels and

Martians to defeat an even greater threat.

METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY will ship in November 2006.

Talkback

Good. Does this make this complete? I hate incomplete collections or anthologies.

GriffinSeptember 22, 2006

Well, seeing as the first line is "Metal Slug 6 COMPLETES the seven-game set", and the part where it says that 6 was released in arcades earlier this year, it's probably a safe bet that this is the full collection of MS games.

Unless 7 is already being released in the arcades...

Shin GallonSeptember 22, 2006

Awesome...I am SO getting this.

I've always wanted to own a Metal Slug game... now I can own 6!

SNK! Make Nintendo systems your home!

All that is missing as fas as I can tell would be the GBA Metal Slug game....of which you can find a bit of a speedrun/superplay on youtube.

KDR_11kSeptember 22, 2006

Strange, I always thought MS6 was already included.

getter: Superplay? You mean a TAS?

Ian SaneSeptember 22, 2006

"All that is missing as fas as I can tell would be the GBA Metal Slug game....of which you can find a bit of a speedrun/superplay on youtube."

I believe there were also two games for the Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Still this is a pretty tight set and I love how they care as much to put the new game in when they could easily justify selling Metal Gear 6 as a standalone product.

DAaaMan64September 22, 2006

Sounds good, I love these games. I am sure the mutliplayer will be very fun...

Nick DiMolaNick DiMola, Staff AlumnusSeptember 22, 2006

Good stuff, I will probably pick this up early next year.

Spak-SpangSeptember 22, 2006

7 Games!!! I will definately pick this up. Hopefully it will release at a $39.99 price tag for a nice discounted game...but if it is full price, I still think it would be worth it for that collection.

couchmonkeySeptember 22, 2006

Argh, maybe I should get this one at launch...too many games to choose from!

Bartman3010September 22, 2006

Are there traditional controls aside from using the Wii mote for actions like lobbing grenades?

CericSeptember 22, 2006

If the threw in Ikari Warriors as well I get it.

Terranigma FreakSeptember 22, 2006

The compliation is very complete. There are indeed 7 Metal Slug games released so far and no word of MS7, yet. The 7th game would be Metal Slug X, it was released as an upgrade to Metal Slug 2 many years ago. I guess if you want to be bitchy, you can complain that they're missing the Neo Geo Pocket and GBA exclusive Metal Slug games.

Ian made a boo boo.

Anyway, as I already had mentioned in the Wii calculator thread, I am getting this game and knowing that the newest Metal Slug game will be included makes me even more happy to get it.

steveySeptember 22, 2006

Awesome! I'm going to get this with my Wii and hopefuly snk will keep being nice give us neogeo games downloads on the vc.

You sould read the whole Press release...

"METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY for the Wii(tm) and the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system."

nintendo wont let them port GBA games on to the p$p.

TJ SpykeSeptember 22, 2006

Why would Nintendo have a say? Sonic Advance was ported to the N-Gage(as SonicN). SNK Playmore owns Metal Slug Advance, not Nintendo.

I will pick this up eventually, I loved the Metal Slug demo I played on Xbox but couldn't justify paying $40 when only 1 MS game was included.

Luigi DudeSeptember 22, 2006

Oh I want this game more then ever right now. I've decided that this and Zelda are going to be the two games I buy at launch. Hopefully if the sales for this game are good enough they'll give us a collection of other SNK arcade games.

steveySeptember 22, 2006

Bacause Nintendo Patented GBA Emulation and they would have to reprogram all the games to work insted of just making a single emulator and dumping all the game to it...

getter77September 22, 2006

:shrugs: Just mentioning it as I knew it.

The youtube run isn't a TAS...a Superplay is like a speedrun though not always.

Here are 2 great sites to peruse....each of which has some AMAZING Metal Slug content(among much more!) with more on the way.

CericSeptember 22, 2006

That rocks. I was wondering what Nintendo was going to do to stop the transfer of GBA games.

WuTangTurtleSeptember 22, 2006

I've only played metal slug on xbox, and i don't remember which one but one of them in the arcades. What are the first through five like? Are they much different at all or do u think most pple will only play 6?

FamicomSeptember 22, 2006

There are virtually no gameplay differences, just different characters (which all play the same) and story/stages/enemies.

KDR_11kSeptember 22, 2006

Still this is a pretty tight set and I love how they care as much to put the new game in when they could easily justify selling Metal Gear 6 as a standalone product.

Well, guess what they're doing on the PS2?
