First 4 Figures will make quality collectibles based on the Metroid franchise.

Metroid Collectibles On The Horizon From First 4 Figures

In conjunction of the Metroid Prime: Hunter’s release for the Nintendo DS in Europe, First 4 Figures is extremely happy to announce a three-year licensing agreement with Nintendo for the rights to create collectibles based on the Metroid franchise.

"We are extremely excited to be working with First 4 Figures to develop a line of figures inspired by Metroid" said Gail Tilden, VP of Nintendo Brand Management. "Metroid fans have come to expect the best from our video games and we are confident First 4 Figures will deliver the same quality with their statues."

"We will be using original Metroid game data for the majority of the collectibles," says Darren Martin, director of First 4 Figures. “This will enable us to create highly accurate collectibles that remain faithful to the original source."

There are plans for single statues and VS dioramas.

The first in the series of statues will be previewed at this year’s upcoming E3 on Nintendo’s stand with product anticipated to come to market the third quarter of 2006. They will be available in collectible and specialty stores worldwide and online retailers as well as directly at the First 4 Figures website.

They will stand approximately 9 to 12 inches tall and will retail for $85 to $120 for single statues and $200+ for high end VS dioramas.

Current product development plans include, but not limited to:

Metroid Prime

Varia Suit

Metroid Prime 2

Light Suit

Dark Suit

Metroid Prime: Hunters

Samus

Kanden

Sylux

Noxus

Spire

Weavel

Trace

I read this was like "YES!"

Then I read the price. Um, yeah, f*ck that.

Couple that with Dark Suit Samus 69 Yin-Yang action.

I want a Phazon Suit.

CericMay 05, 2006

Full Original hanging beside original green haired samus. Those better be great looking figurings. But I just saw a Koopa Troopa plush for $55 dollars.

Buy a Wii or buy a Samus Statue and Koopa Troopa plush. Tough call right?

JonLeungMay 05, 2006

Varia, because that's how Samus is oftern represented, or Phazon, because it looks cool.

I'd only get the Light and Dark if I could afford them both.

The last Nintendo Power mentioned Zelda collectibles of the same size and price range, so I assume that it's the same company without that Nintendo Power in front of me. They should eventually do more, but starting out with Zelda and Metroid is absolutely awesome.

I wonder if they'll compete well with all those other high-end action figure/statuette things, like those McFarlane "toys". Then again, I wonder if anyone ever really buys them...but grotesque as some of them are, you can't deny that they put a lot of detail into them which is probably supposed to explain their high prices. And there's that borderline geeky/cool dynamic, or the question of where you should really be putting your money if you do buy one.

Hopefully when these and their Zelda figures are on sale I can buy 1 per month and that's only if I have anough money after buying Wii, DS games and my usual Anime/Manga. But these figures must look really good, otherwise I ain't buying them.

mantidorMay 05, 2006

Oh damn! they are so expensive T_T but I want them so bad!

KDR_11kMay 05, 2006

At that price they better come with a free game. Seriously, 100$? That's plain insane. They could make a lifesize Metroid larva and sell it at that price. I remember seeing a lifesize Yoshi plush toy for that money when I was a kid.

Oh and I'd rather go with the Koopa, too. Can't... resist... cuteness...
