GDC PARTNERS WITH TIGA TO HOST THE 5TH ANNUAL GAME DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE IN EUROPE
TIGA Premier Sponsor of Largest European Gathering of Developers
SAN FRANCISCO - May 11, 2005 - The Game Developers Conference Europe (GDCE) will
take place Tuesday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 at London's Le Meridien
Hotel. TIGA (The Independent Games Developers Association) - the leading organization
representing independent developers from the UK and Europe - is the premier sponsor
of the event. GDCE is presented by the CMP Game Group, organizers of the Game
Developers Conference and the Serious Games Summit D.C. as well as publishers
of Game Developer Magazine and Gamasutra.com.
The GDCE conference program builds upon the Future Vision theme, recently unveiled
at the 2005 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco this past March.
The GDC featured progressive conference sessions led by industry gurus who empowered
developers to create tomorrow's games today. GDCE will expand upon this Future
Vision theme with a special focus on next generation development. The conference
will introduce new visionary sessions designed to provoke innovation amongst
developers and motivate them to learn new skills essential for creating the next
generation of interactive entertainment. Through three days of lectures, keynotes,
panels, tutorials, and roundtable discussions, GDCE will focus on the road ahead
for developers.
"European developers are an essential element of publishers' global strategies
as we stand on the brink of next generation console announcements and the launch
titles that will define their impact," said Jamil Moledina, Director of the Game
Developers Conference. "It is therefore incumbent upon us to apply our tried-and-true
GDC methodology to deliver our industry leading forum to this critical market."
GDCE is the core event for game development professionals in Europe who wish
to shape the industry and expand the resources, tools and technologies they use
to create next generation games. GDCE is also the principal gathering place
where European professionals will help set the agenda for interactive entertainment
for years to come.
"TIGA is delighted to be working with CMP as the premier sponsor of the Game
Developers Conference Europe," said Ian Baverstock, Chairman of TIGA. "Bringing
the experience of the team behind the world's leading game developer conference
to GDCE is just what our members were hoping for and we look forward to supporting
this event as it brings high quality sessions covering the issues that matter
to our members to Europe this August."
