Beware of 'ravenous' Poker and ATV fans.

Majesco Expands Nintendo DS Lineup to Include, 'Texas Hold 'Em Poker,' and 'ATV: Quad Frenzy'

EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 2005--Drawing on the heart-racing intensity and widespread appeal of tournament poker and off-road racing, Majesco (NASDAQ: MJES), a provider of diversified products and content for digital entertainment platforms, today announced Texas Hold 'Em Poker and ATV: Quad Frenzy, two new titles for the Nintendo DS scheduled for later this year.

"The enthusiasm and demand for a wide variety of interactive experiences is there and our DS lineup is ideally positioned to address this growing audience," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco. "Texas Hold 'Em and Quad Frenzy hail from categories with a ravenous fan base and we are pleased to provide them with portable versions of their favorite leisure pursuits."

Following its successful launch on Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Majesco's Texas Hold 'Em Poker is bringing its high-intensity card action to Nintendo DS. Players compete in a limit or no limit Quick Game mode versus 10 computer players or in the Tournament Mode against up to five friends via Wi-Fi multiplayer support.

Portable "big air" is what's in store with ATV: Quad Frenzy which features Wi-Fi multiplayer, high-speed racing, and 40 different tracks. The DS touch screen also provides on-the-fly vehicle upgrading as players face a growing challenge that requires increased skills and advanced equipment.

That does say Wi-Fi multiplayer for both titles. Let's hope that means online poker games, and they aren't just using the term generically for local play.

I can't hep but to think that they mean local WiFi. I have a feeling that if it meant "on-line" it would have hyped the WiFi feature up by saying something like "Use the DS' built-in WiFi features to play on-line against anyone, anywhere in the world". Remember if this game is going on-line, this would be the first on-line announcement by a 3rd Party. They would surely make a big deal over it. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Short of Yu-Gi-Oh's Monsters jumping out of the card game, I don't find any card game to be high-intensity, or even regular-intensity. It's fun, but not intense.

Good to see developers taking DS seriously and pumping out real quality games.

Uh.

Actually, the poker game looks like it might be fun, but then again, I'm a poker purist. It ain't poker without CASH on the line.
