Smash Bros. DX Hits a Million

Pretty soon, there are going to be a million reasons why this game is Nintendo's best Japanese seller.

Nintendo has just announced that it has shipped one million copies of Super Smash Bros. DX (Melee, for us North Americans) to retailers throughout Japan. Of course, the actual number of units sold is actually lower (around 800,000), but still, it's a rather sigificant milestone for Nintendo.

When you factor in the 1.4 million systems shipped to retailers before the end of 2001, this means two out of every three Japanese GameCube owners have the game. It's an astounding figure, one that's sure to rise as time goes on.
