Nintendo Representatives are reporting that within six months of its debut, the Game Boy Advance has sold just under 12 million (!) units worldwide.

This just in! The Game Boy Advance is unstoppable. It’s been a smash hit in every part of the world it’s been released in and has developers lining up to make games for it. It doesn’t take a genius to deduce the GBA is off to a phenomenal start. We were still pretty amazed after reading the following from Core Magazine yesterday:

Nintendo representatives have confirmed that within its first six months of availability, 11,746,000 Game Boy Advance units have been shipped to retailers worldwide. Unfortunately, a geographic breakdown of the shipment total wasn't readily available. Nevertheless, Nintendo expects this figure to increase dramatically before the end of the year due to the holiday season. Approximately 2 million Game Boy Advance units are produced monthly to meet demand. According to Nintendo, they're still on target to ship 23 million units by March 2002.
