The latest in Intelligent Systems' turn based strategy series is the first Wars to be released in North America. We're happy to report its Western debut has hit sales charts like a ton of Napalm.

PGC has caught the Advance Wars bug in a very big way. Today, many of us are caught up in the heat of battle, rather, our newfound addiction that is Advance Wars. We're plotting strategies instead of posting updates today, but can you blame us? This is the first Wars game to ever be released in North America, so it's been a long time coming. The game is so fun, it's hard to believe it hasn't appeared in the West earlier! Hopefully, you've read some of our impressions or even Zosha's glowing (albeit threat-packed) review and snagged a copy of Advance Wars for yourself. If you haven't yet, you may want to act fast!

Coming to us thanks to Cloudchaser Nintendo is the news that Advance Wars is not only selling well, it's doing great! Our CC buddy Mikey Veroni spoke to a Nintendo representative who reported that much to Nintendo's surprise, Advance Wars is selling out everywhere across North America! What was only meant to be a "comfortable niche title to pad the pre-holiday bum rush" has turned into a surprise hit for Nintendo, and they're trying to meet the sudden demand for Advance Wars.

Although the representative didn't provide any real concrete sales figures, they said they would not be surprised if Advance Wars and Mario Kart: Super Circuit are among the first batches of "Million Seller" Game Boy Advance titles. This may take a little time, as both games have only been available a short time.

Cloudchaser speculates this may encourage Nintendo to release some of its other untested franchises to Western markets. We sure hope so!

Oh yeah, the Rep also told Mikey that GameCube kiosks should be hitting stores (?any that will take them?) starting next week, as scheduled. Official pre-orders are said to start sometime soon too.
