Billy Berghammer is a Birthday Boy Today!

by Max Lake - July 27, 2001, 12:36 pm EDT

Yes, today is PGC’s founder/director's birthday. He just turned one bajillion but has the heart of a six-year old Nintendo freak on a sugar high.

Hey, hey, HEY! It’s Billy’s Birthday!

Billy Berghammer, PGC founder, director and owner of the rowdy Louie the Cat turns 29 years old today. Holy cow! He’s nearly 30 and he’s spending all his time and money covering Nintendo?!?

That’s right, he is. And he is doing a damn fine job. While some chumps his age and older are out there getting married or settling into drab careers, Billy has spent the past few years following his dreams. After several years of working in radio, Billy took his media experience & freetime to create Planet GameCube in its original form “N2000HQ” (one of the first two GameCube sites on the net, the other being OperatioN2000) on March 7, 1999. Before long, it became PlanetN2000 and two years later, he’s gathered an amazing staff (including OpN crew & content) & turned his ambitious little site into one of the leading sources of Nintendo information on the Internet—or I daresay, anywhere.

We all work for free and in our spare time for PGC, and I don’t think any of us would be here if Billy wasn’t such a great person. Billy goes above and beyond all of us to bring you PGC. Even though he beats us and throws Louie poop at us, and makes us all work hard, we all appreciate the hell out of this guy. We all love ya Billy! Happy Birthday!

For those who really want to give Billy a present, I’m sure he’d love any SpaceWorld donations generous folks can help us. No one likes to ask for money, but any help we can get will be amazing. You can also give Billy Happy B-day wishes of your own by hitting the forum and whooping it up!

I’m currently working on a present of my own—finishing the E3 video. It’s looking like we’ll have it in his hands by next week which means it’ll be in our customers hands shortly thereafter. Speaking of the video, I’ve gotta get back to work but had to let the world know what day it is.

Here’s a pic of Billy with Miyamoto at E3 2000. That’s another great thing about Billy & the Planet. He’s proven that with hard work, talent, passion and dedication, dreams can come true!
