More Zelda? What's better than that?

Hell yeah! This will at least make all you people out there who are hungry for Zelda to hit the Dolphin (which you can almost guarantee) very happy. Some new form of Zelda will be hitting the N64. Thanks to Yutaka Ohbuchi (good to see ex-N64HQ-ers hookin' up with the big news) and Gamespot for the info...

TOKYO - On Tuesday, Nintendo held a press conference to announce its business results for the past fiscal year. However amidst the profit and earnings babble, the company confirmed its plans to release a new version of Legend of Zelda for the N64 in this fiscal year.

The big question right now is what type of software medium the game will be released on. Even before the first Zelda was released, Nintendo had hinted that future upgrades of the game would be available for its 64DD system. However, since the 64DD device is no longer planned for the US, Nintendo may have other plans for the next Zelda. The company could release it as a completely new game or, as rumors have been speculating for months now, it may employ a lock-on technology as a sequel. Sharing data from the original Zelda cartridge, the lock-on version could allow players to open new quests beyond the original game. A side note: It has also been rumored that Banjo-Kazooie's sequel (Banjo-Tooie) will use this lock-on technology to open areas that weren't attainable in the original.

So while it's currently unknown exactly when, or in what form, this new game will be arriving, Nintendo 64 owners should start honing their Zelda skills for new quests to come!
