"Leaks" are about to get wrecked.

Reset the clock: we have a Direct.

A Super Smash Bros. Direct will air on Thursday, November 1 at 10 am Eastern time/7 am Pacific. The video is expected to run for 40 minutes.

A Treehouse Live presentation will air following the Direct, featuring Smash alongside Pokémon Let's Go, Diablo III: Eternal Collection, and Yoshi's Crafted World.

Another 40 minutes.

How big is this freakin' game?!

Well this is probably going to reveal the entire roster so it makes sense to be this long.  The August Direct had 5 new characters with only 2 of them unique so and since this is longer then that, I could see at least 3 unique character reveals and who knows how many Echo's.

I also wouldn't be surprised if that hidden mode is a good sized Adventure mode of some kind which I'd imagine they'll probably devote a good amount of time too as well.

I hope Sakurai doesn’t reveal the entire roster because I enjoy the internet meltdown whenever a new fake leak or outlandish fan theory happens. “Look at these pixels on this picture of a box taken on a 15 year old Nokia cell phone” then GameXplain uploads a 37 minute video and there’s 6000 replies in the ResetEra thread within an hour.

Or maybe they've just prepared character trailers for eeeeeveryone. Mario, DK, Samus, Link, Pikachu. You know they're in there, but we're gonna make you watch these for 40 minutes anyway. End on one final new fighter reveal and we'll still have a collective meltdown regardless.

It'd be funny if he says what we see on Thursday is the entire roster but there's still at least one more hidden character not shown.  That would certainly be one way to cause another uproar when early copies start coming out.

As much fun as they are, I think Sakurai is probably tired of all the fakes and rumors going around, so he might just want to put them to bed once and for all.

You have no idea how much I want that to happen.

Sakurai hates leaks. The fakes/rumors probably don't affect him much, and we've seen him have some fun with them. The King Dedede fake out at the beginning of the King K. Rool reveal trailer was *chef kiss*

Sakurai already revealed that the entire roster will be announced before the game launches. Since this is the last Smash Direct before the game is released, one would assume that it will have the full roster.

He said this in the August Direct.

We know. We’re just having some fun. Why won’t you let us have any fun?

Someone on a prominent messageboard pointed out how insane it is that Nintendo is promoting a livestream with Smash, Pokemon, Yoshi, and DIABLO... and now I can't unsee it.

Fun? Now that's a word I haven't heard in a long, long time...

It's because you've been writing too many serious articles about gaming on your site.

I'm not sure I'm getting what you are saying. Are you referring to how Nintendo in the 90's would have been afraid to advertise any kind of religious element or promote a game about hell but now they are more loose and not so uptight about that?

AdrockNovember 01, 2018

I took it as the first three games have ESRB ratings of E/E10+ then there’s Diablo 3 with a hard M. In the past, Nintendo would have been expected to be way more vigilant in regulating what games are shown together. Hip 2018 Nintendo seemingly trusts people to observe the ESRB ratings themselves.

39 minutes and 50 seconds of Sakurai sitting at a table, drinking coffee, and not even looking at the camera.

Last ten seconds he looks at the camera, and says "This is the last Smash Brothers game, i'm done with you ruining my fun.".

Would explain why he got Thanos to snap the whole Smash Universe at the end.
