Get your splatting in now.

The free ride is a few months away from ending on Switch.

At tonight's post-earnings strategy meeting, CEO Tatsumi Kimishima announced that the Switch's paid online service will begin in September of 2018.

Details about the offers will be announced at a later date.

Great, now we just need to know what it actually is

When you consider the monthly cost is about $1.68 when paying it annually.....

On the other hand, I rarely even play online multiplayer on my switch, so I wouldn't bother with their service until I find something that really strikes me to do so.  Maybe if I get  back into splatoon.

The only game I'm currently playing right now is Splatoon. If Arena of Valor ends up being good I might also play that. But eh, I kinda need more games to make this work really.

They better have some bangers lined up to hook people

Maybe Super Mario Maker 2 will launch that month as well?

That and/or Super Smash Bros. This paid service fails entirely if Nintendo doesn’t have anything worth playing online. Like Switch itself, Nintendo needs to hit hard and fast.

It'd be a shame for Nintendo to come all this way with the Switch and then drop the ball with online right when the cool kids are finally letting me hang out with them. Get this right, Nintendo!
