June, seriously, chill out already.

One of the promised Nintendo and Minecraft collaborations has been announced, and it's a free update.

An update to the title on May 17 will bring the Super Mario pack to the game, which includes character skins and models from various Mario titles like Super Mario World and Sunshine, plus music from Super Mario 64.

The physical release of the game, which has been announced for June 17 in North America, will also come with the update installed.

Really wish I had waited for physical instead buying a digital copy... but it was a gift for my little girl at Christmas, so timing was important.  Of course, she grew tired of the game and nobody plays it now.  Jealous of those who will grab the retail copy, but not jealous enough to buy twice.

The free Mario update is cool and unexpected.  (I mean, the update was kind of expected... I just didn't think it would be given out for free and that's pretty cool.)

Really cool to see this mash-up finally come out.

For those who have the Wii U version, how does it compare to the PS4 version? Can you create worlds as large as PS4 or is it closer to PS3 in scale? I already have it on PS4 and I have Minecraft Story Mode on PS3 but I would be tempted to get the Wii U one just for the Mario stuff if it's not too gimped of a port.

I'm no pro (not really even a casual) Minecraft player, but based on what I've read the Wii U version is much closer to what was released on PS3.  It does not have the expanded world sizes from more powerful platforms.

I guess it isn't a very big deal, a Super Mario themed level doesn't need to be super massive anyways. I was just curious. Dang it I was hoping to buy a new laptop soon but it looks like I might be putting more money into Nintendo's bank account once again.

I have the Wii U version, but I much prefer the PC controls. That could probably apply to any console or mobile version though.

I would love to get the PC versions but it won't run on my laptop.

The Wii U version has the same map size as the PS360 versions.

I wish we could have gotten pointer controls. I'm still holding out hope that we will get more controller options in a future update since the game is getting supported with updates.
