Yacht Club gets out in front of some news about the price and date for shovelry.

The physical release of Shovel Knight has had some changes in recent weeks.

In an update on their website, Yacht Club Games announced that the Wii U and 3DS versions will release on 30 October in Europe and November 3 in North America, due to delays in getting the game pressed following the Plague of Shadows update.

As well, in order to keep the title out of retail bargain bins, the game's MSRP has been increased to $24.99 from $19.99. Anyone who locked in a preorder at the previous price should have it honored, but that is retailer dependent.

Finally, Yacht Club does not have a release date for North America for the Shovel Knight Amiibo, but hopes to allow for preorders in the weeks ahead.

Talkback

A price INCREASE? That blows, and could hurt sales. Yes $25 is not a huge amount, but still talking about a 25% increase in price. And it means it's now $10 more than the digital version, so I could not recommend it to anyone who can access the eShop.

$10 sounds about right for the cost of printing, carts/discs and the soundtrack rights (pay virt, damnit).

Printing and discs would add MAYBE $5 MAX to the costs (with like $4 of that being the box). $10 is just way overpriced and there is no reason to pay that much more, anybody wanting this game should just download it.

Yeah, this decreases my odds of buying this.

I don't think the game deserves to go into the bargain bin at release. The price increase sucks, but I think there's enough value to justify the purchase.
