Say goodbye to screen-capping your daily log.

Nintendo has recently removed the Wii U's ability to take screenshots of the Wii U menu and other system-level processes.

Users will no longer be able to screen-cap their daily log, or similar features. The reason behind this function's removal is unknown.

You could do that?

Why? I don't get what benefit Nintendo gets from removing any features, even trivial ones like this.

It's interesting contrasting these 2 distinct messages:

Sony: "Hey, everyone! We're all about sharing! Share your screenshots on Twitter! Share your videos on Facebook! Share your live streaming Youtube Lets Plays on Twitch! Talk about PS4! Show everyone how much you love it!"

Nintendo: "Grab your orange-tipped guns and hide your children: people are sharing their Wii U experiences! Don't worry, folks: we'll shut it down soon enough. The last thing we want is Nintendo fans talking to one another."

It's those damn Japanese pedophiles

I don't really care that this functionality that I never used and would probably never have used is gone, but I'm pretty curious as to why they removed this, and only this.

Same boat: haven't tried this because I didn't realize it was an option, but probably wouldn't use the feature anyway. Having it go away doesn't affect me at all.  But why would they Nintendo remove functionality? What is the benefit to take something out that was already working?  It does seem like a neat option, and even though I don't care that it's removed, there probably are people who will be disappointed.

The reason is simple: with all those line graphs, one can spell out the word "I" very easily, and from there, it's possible that they could figure out how to add "want to have sex with you" and then send it to a minor. So Nintendo is just stopping online criminals before they figure it out!
