Would you like it in a box? Would you like it with a fox?

Mutant Mudds could be getting a physical copy release for 3DS according to a blog post by Renegade Kid's Jools Watsham.

Jools says that a physical copy release aimed at collectors is being looked into, and says that "The only way we will be able to make such a thing happen is to turn to kickstarter." He cites a DS Kickstarter, Diamond Trust of London, as an example of how it could work.

It is still not certain whether this will happen, but Jools says he has already contacted Nintendo to learn the details of what a physical release would take.

Talkback

As a rule, I don't buy physical copies of games anymore, but I would absolutely back this Kickstarter and proudly display my copy of this amazing game.

I would pick this up with no problem.  I love having a physical copy of a game for the longevity of it, and I can share it between myself and my family who all have 3DS's.  You just can't do that with digital since you have to give them the entire system and lose the ability to play any other games.

I know some people prefer digital, and that's fine...but some of us prefer physical for collections or whatever.  I would gladly pay a premium for an actual boxed copy of a game.  ;D

I was about to make the point that Mutant Mudds is a short-ass game and wouldn't therefore justify a full retail price...but then I checked my activity log and realised that (including the free DLC) I've played Mutant Mudds for 12 hours. That's having only played through the game once but collecting everything. 12 hours seems pretty reasonable to me for a platformer.

I've played this game for over 40 hours combining my time on the 3DS and Wii U versions. I'm a few levels shy of my seventh completion of it. It truly is one of my favorite games ever and I'd back this Kickstarter just to have it as a collector's item that I'd never open.
