Sega is set to deliver another classic updated in stereoscopic 3D.
3D Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop next week on May 15. The title, which retails for 600 yen (about $6), is based on the Mega Drive (Genesis) version of the game and will support the ability to select stages, save at any time, and implements the speed dash technique found in later Sonic games. Controls are completely customizable and the game offers both the Japanese and English versions. Gamers can also choose to view the game in Normal mode or a special Classic mode that resembles old tube televisions with a slight curvature on the sides (see the picture below).
3D Sonic the Hedgehog is the third game in the 3D Fukkoku Project (3D Reprint Project). 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-on were released December and March respectively. There is currently no word as to if or when these titles will be released outside of Japan.
