The minor update improves system stability.

System Update version 3.0.0-6 is now available and should be delivered to 3DS systems worldwide shortly.

The updated version doesn't appear to include any major changes. Nintendo's website states simply that "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."

Nintendo has used similar language in the past while patching security holes in order to block Flash cards. Messages on various Chinese message boards indicate that this is again the case.

While the small update will be delivered automatically, users can update immediately through the unit's System Settings app.

Aww, was totally wanting it to include SwapNote or Letter Box or whatever.

Whatever it did, it didn't fix the lagginess when doing stuff like switching into the Friend List.

I can deal with the lag time, (although it would be great if it was taken care of). But I will still download it next time I log it online.

Today I exchanged friend codes (locally) with a friend who hadn't updated his 3DS at all (still had original settings, no eShop etc).
I looked on his system menu afterwards and he had SpotPass TV, Pokemon BW app and SwapNote all installed!?

I let him play my copy of Mario 3D Land on his system, maybe that was it?
Otherwise I guess I virally gave it to him somehow, I have no idea.
Pretty cool though.

Did the update change anything with cookies? I tried to connect to the Denver International Airport free wifi tonight and it gave me a screen saying I needed to allow cookies, and the only thing I could find about cookies in the settings was to erase them. It worked fine last month in the same airport, so the only thing that's changed since then is the major update recently.

Since the last update I've had my 3DS refuse to come out of sleep mode when I open it a few times, forcing me to do a hard reboot. Hopefully this fixes that.

I haven't had that happen, but my sound has stopped working after sleep mode several times.

Mine did that.  Then it would let out a high pitch squeal when it went into Sleep sometime and eventually blue screening.  Literally Blue Screening with the dump numbers and everything.  I had to send it into Nintendo and they unfortunately had to send me a new unit so I lost all my Street Pass and Coins things.

There's apparently some glitch in Mario Kart 7 that kills the sound if you come back and play it after the system was in sleep mode.

I keeps see staff getting the StaffPlus tag and I keep wondering if they became a Dateable option in a NWR Date sim.  Then I'm just scared.

The one thing that seems to have improved with this update is now Mario Kart 7 appears to be better able to deal with NATs/firewalls. Before I had to DMZ the 3DS, which didn't work over half the time, to get a connection to a match but not to the Nintendo Network, but now it works seamlessly so far for most part. Some races are a lot more glitchy with reality getting thrown out the window. More test are needed to confirm.
