The 'Bag is Back, Baby!

Now with 36% more alliteration!

When Jon Lindemann and I were discussing my return to the blue skies and calm shores of NintendoWorldReport, one of my requests (besides adding Mello Yello to the staff soda machine) was the return of one of the site's oldest (and one of my personal favorite) features: the mailbag. And wouldn't you know it, word came from on high today that we're good to go!

Now, before you submit your questions/concerns/death threats, keep in mind that we're trying to keep the pool separate from questions geared towards Radio Free Nintendo. If you'd like to hear your questions answered on the podcast, be sure to use their email address. But if you'd rather see it on the website and answered by yours truly (and you like freedom), send it my way!

So with that out of the way, see you in a couple weeks for the first iteration of the revamped Monday Morning Mailbag!

The only staffer with two forum accounts! The return of the mailbag should be interesting. Also, Mello Yello is awesome.

ShyGuyApril 20, 2010

I hope for an angry and snarky mailbag with lots of pictures.

BeautifulShyApril 20, 2010

I am glad the mailbag is back since I can't really listen to the podcasts and hear my question be answered.

TJ SpykeApril 20, 2010

It was funny last summer to have my question answered by both the mailbag and on the podcast (this was when there was just one place to send questions, and the staff would decide which ones to answer on the podcast and which to do in the mailbag).

I raised this concern, but I figure the questions will sort themselves out.  But here's a quick guide to our intent:

Mailbag - For the mailbag, send questions that require some in-depth research, technical questions, or other stuff that lends itself more to us having some time to put together an answer.  Opinion stuff is always welcome, but realize that you may only get one person's answer.

RFN - This is the address to use if you have a question that you'd like debated by the RFN crew.  These are perhaps more metaphysical questions (like "Are video games art?"), questions about our feelings regarding one particular aspect of the gaming hobby, questions about the development of the industry at large, or questions about Nintendo's position vs. other companies in the industry.  In other words, open-ended questions that are sure to stir up some discussion, generate some heated debate, create some resentment and bad feelings, and most importantly, MAKE JAMES CRY.

Huge thanks to Karl for taking up the mantle of Mailbag Grand Poobah!  It has been sorely missed.

Karl still works here?

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 21, 2010

Not "still" so much as "again." I left NWR at the end of 2007, but after PAX East, I decided I wasn't quite finished yet, so now I'm back, two and a half years later.

ShyGuyApril 21, 2010

THE ISLAND ISN'T FINISHED WITH YOU YET BOY

More questions, people! Can't have a weekly update without MORE QUESTIONS.

BeautifulShyApril 23, 2010

Do you accept more questions from somebody if they already sent in some questions?

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 23, 2010

Absolutely. Actually, if you sent in your question in the last couple days, we've had some technical difficulties, so there's a chance we might not have received it.

BeautifulShyApril 23, 2010

I see I guess I have to think of some more questions. I will send in a bunch on Saturday.

ShyGuyApril 23, 2010

The mailbag submit page seems to be down.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 23, 2010

Yeah, it's been kind of screwy lately. I'll have someone get on that.

In the meantime, you can send emails the old fashioned way to mailbag nintendoworldreport.com.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 24, 2010

The bag's hungry, folks. It needs more mail if there's gonna be a decent column on Monday.

BeautifulShyApril 24, 2010

I was just going to send in some questions.
Edit:Just sent in like 5 questions.
Come on people you guys don't just want one person sending in the questions. The mailbag gets boring that way.;)

I sent in my burning question.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 24, 2010

Seems that the website is bouncing emails back if you send them through the website, so if you sent in your emails within the last 12 hours or so, be sure to re-send them to the actual email address, which is, again, mailbagnintendoworldreport.com.

ThePermApril 25, 2010

you guys actually have a headquarters for a soda machine?

Shorty McNostrilApril 25, 2010

This is the 3rd time the bag has been revamped.  It fizzled out the last 2 times.

BeautifulShyApril 26, 2010

Check your PMs NWR Karl!

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 26, 2010

Just an FYI, folks. Due to some technical issues on our end, the mailbag address was actually down for most of the week. We've got a handful of questions, but I'd rather debut with a really big selection, so I'm gonna hold off the first column for another week.

ShyGuyApril 26, 2010

Did you get my question?

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 26, 2010

I didn't. A sure fire way to get it to work is to just PM it to me or use the actual mailbag email address.

ShyGuyApril 26, 2010

will do.

So mailbag at nintendoworldreport dot com was down, or just the form?

BlackNMild2k1April 27, 2010

Ok, I've got a solution for everyone, just post your questions in the thread and they will sort them out later.

TJ SpykeApril 27, 2010

It sounds like it was just the form on the website was acting wonky, any letters sent through a e-mail provide were received with no problem.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 27, 2010

TJ's right. The most surefire way to get me the email is to send it to the actual address from your own portal.

Honestly, though, if you wanted to post your questions in the thread or PM me or email me directly, those would all be fine as well. I don't discriminate.

But for the record, Shaymin, I did get your email.

Did you get my question?

You should send that into the mailbag as a question. ;)

Heehee, I should be nice, Karl is trying to build something good here...

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorApril 29, 2010

Just wanted to thank everyone for sending in emails. I've got a decent amount of questions now, so there's for sure going to be an article on Monday.

Keep sending in questions, though - I could always use more!

BlackNMild2k1April 30, 2010

I got a Q for U

What do you think of this
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=16688.msg605245#msg605245

What do you think of the likely hood of something along those lines happening for the Next Nintendo console or even the 3DS?
