Lead singer Roger Daltrey speaks about a future Rock Band and The Who collaboration.

In an interview with The Republican, frontman Roger Daltrey indicated that a future Rock Band title might feature The Who.

When asked about the recent release of The Beatles: Rock Band, he replied, "The game, yeah, yeah, they're going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful."

There has been no announcement from MTV Games or Harmonix regarding future Rock Band titles. It's unclear if Daltrey was talking about a full release, or merely referring to adding a standalone The Who track pack of existing downloadable songs. In July 2008, "Best of The Who (Rock Band Edition)" was released to digital download networks, featuring 12 tracks.

Harmonix has released six standalone track packs for the Wii, including at least one band-specific track pack in AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack.

Can we now agree that Rock Band is just as sequel-happy as Guitar Hero?

Rock Band didn't sell me a "Guitar Hero Metallica + Guitar bundle" for $60 at launch.

Take a hike, Expensive Band.

This has got to be referring to a track pack, not a full game; most of The Who's best stuff (their whole greatest hits album) is already available as DLC on Rock Band.

Based on the article, it's not even clear that Daltrey is talking about Rock Band.  He simply says "they're working on it" and we're assuming that means Harmonix because of the mention of The Beatles: Rock Band.  It's very possible that Daltrey merely means that there's a game being worked on.  Maybe it'll be Guitar Hero: The Who.  Guitar Whoero.  Featuring Roger Daltrey singing the songs of Green Day and Paramore.

Activision doesn't have good enough taste in music to make a Guitar Hero based on The Who.
