Shigeru Miyamoto and crew were spotted touring EA's Hotel Suite and playing their games.

When you talk to any informed gamer and any video game journalist about Nintendo and 3rd parties, the general consensus is that Nintendo could care less about them, but that all seems to be changing now. MTV's Gaming blog Multiplayer Blog reeled in some very interesting photos of Shigeru Miyamoto, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Eiji Aonuma taking a tour of EA's Hotel Suite at E3. Miyamoto was seen smiling as he played against Reggie in a round of NBA Live 2008 for Wii(Reggie lost to Miyamoto by a score of 8-5.) He was even spotted playing the demo of "Skate" which isn't even scheduled to release on Wii. Looks like the overall attitude at Nintendo may be changing after all.

About time to!

Michael_82July 17, 2007

They're just gamers at heart like the rest of us, that's all.

trip1eXJuly 17, 2007

Miyamoto was spotted checking out games from the competition at the last E3 too.

mantidorJuly 17, 2007

isn't the right way to say it just "couldn't", not "could"? because... it just doesn't make sense.

Grammar aside, I don't see either Reggie nor Miyamoto as a "gamer" type, much less "at heart". They were just seeing the competition, thats all I really believe.

"Miyamoto and Reggie Spotted in a Foreign Hotel Suite At E3"

You know theres some fan fics that start with a very similar scenario...please don't kill me, I couldn't help it!

MarioAllStarJuly 17, 2007

At first I was going to scoff at the idea of Miyamoto not being a gamer, but I actually don't know how much games he plays in his spare time. Although he may not have the time these days, we know that he has a love for Pac-Man--one that likely predates the creation of Donkey Kong. Does anyone know of other series that Miyamoto admires?

MashiroJuly 17, 2007

I believe in multiple interviews Miyamoto has stated he really doesn't play games in his spare time.

GoldenPhoenixJuly 17, 2007

For some people it is far more enjoyable to create something, so I am not that surprised.

MashiroJuly 17, 2007

This is from an old gamespot interview back in 2005:

Quote

As for his current favorite game, Miyamoto doesn't have one. As a matter of fact, he says he doesn't even play games anymore.

"The only time I play is maybe the 20 minutes I spend testing rivals' new machines," Miyamoto is quoted as saying. "I don't play video games in my free time. On the weekends, I fix things around the house, garden, or play the guitar. Or I'll exercise, go swimming, take the dog for a walk, or go for a hike."

MarioJuly 17, 2007

the general consensus is that Nintendo could care less about them, but that all seems to be changing now.

So now Nintendo are caring less?

There aren't any games that Miyamoto isn't involved in which are worthy of his time..

King of TwitchJuly 17, 2007

Miyamoto, Reggie, and Hotel in the same headline... what a letdown.

IceColdJuly 18, 2007

All we needed was "Love" and "Yamauchi" and it would be the best headline ever!

BlkPaladinJuly 19, 2007

I remember Miyamoto saying that he like Samba di Amigo for the Dreamcast. But if you think about it he makes games for a living when you get home from work what do you want to do first. Anything but what you were doing at work. It doesn't matter what industry you are in or how cool your job is. Once you get home you want to get your mind off of work.
