Radio Allergy for GameCube Cancelled

Developer Milestone seeking to release it in North America on Wii.

Radio Allergy was to be the GameCube's last game, but it kept missing its proposed release dates in February, and later April. Speculation that the game was cancelled is now confirmed. A representative of publisher O~3 Entertainment sent an e-mail to press today notifying them that the game will not be published by O~3 in North America. The e-mail cites video game retailer's lack of interest in GameCube games now that a new generation of consoles and software is available. According to the e-mail, developer Milestone is pursuing the possibility of releasing the game on Wii as part of a compilation and without the help of O~3; this would make Radio Allergy yet another port from late-gen to next-gen.

Rats. Though with the constantly shifting release date, I guess I shoulda seen it coming. Interestingly, Nintendo Power reviewed it months ago...

I wonder what this "compilation" will be...

Radio Allergy was never gonna be the last GameCube game. There are gonna be GameCube versions of Ratatouille and Madden NFL 08.

Ok, why?

God, I can't imagine the frustration for 0~3, as we know that the localization was well under way. I hope it doesn't have any lasting effects on them as a company.

I knew this was going to happen. I don't want to say too much to get anyone in trouble, but I've known for awhile it was doomed. I tried to drum up some support for it by bringing back old threads on a couple of forums, but, alas... no luck. face-icon-small-frown.gif

Read: done and waiting for manufacture.

Well, if Milestone's trying to make a compilation, I guess we'll get Karous, Radio Allergy, and perhaps Chaos Field all on one disc. That would be nice, but it does suck for O3.

If the Wii is as close to the GC as rumored they'll only have to change some interface calls and it's done. The localization would remain the same on any system, only some game code and button names would need to be changed.

I do wonder how that would work given the publisher change... would Milestone pay O~3 for the work they had already done?

Ok, why?

Ratatouille because it's a children's movie tie-in and the Wii isn't sufficiently entrenched in terms of the sales base for it to have supplanted the GameCube. Same reason they're doing a PS2 version.

Can't speak for Madden, though; that makes no sense to me.

Makes sense, but I feel bad for the publisher.

Don't forget about Naruto: Clash of Ninja 3 and 4. I read in an earlier article right in Nintendo World Report that Naruto: Ninja Council 3 is only the first of three Naruto games to be released in 2007 for Nintendo gaming systems, another being what is now called Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution (formerly called Naruto: Clash of Ninja MVZ) for the Wii. Guess what the third one might be; I can't see it as anything else besides an English port of Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Tasien 3.

Crap. I even had it on order.

I just hope the compilation is more than Radio Allergy and Chaos Field.
